Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide which hospital to choose. I am in the beginning process of getting the Sleeve. My insurance company is UHC Choice Plus. If you have any experience with the following hospitals please let me know. I'd am having a little trouble choosing.

Atlanta Medical Center

Emory University - Midtown

Dekalb Medical Center

Northside Hospital

Hi Trinity...my name is Susan and I had Dr Chris Hart do my sleeve @ Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek here in Atlanta. I was sleeved on Fri, May 14. I work with Dr Hart and his partner, Dr Johnson, alot at the hospital due to being in anesthesia. They both are extremely competent at this surgery and you would do well by them If any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Trinity, I just saw that you mentioned Northside Hospital...if you are going there, I would choose Dr Paul Macik. Hope this is helpful!

Trinity...I'm using Dr. Scott Davis at Emory-Midtown and getting sleeved in June. I like the Emory program and comfortable with the Emory program. I think that is the big thing, you need to be comfortable and confident in program.

Hey Trinity. Just saw this thread. I had my VSG surgery at Northside and it was great. The bariatric floor was nice and the nurses were very responsive and caring. I've had surgery at Emory Midtown before and that was a great experience too.

I had surgery on June 22 and have lost 16 pounds since surgery. I haven't weighed since last week, so I may have lost some more since then. I don't have any doc appointments this week, so I'll have to find a scale somewhere so I can update my ticker. That may be enough motivation for me to get to the gym so I can check my weight.

kenwillmore and I have the same surgeon.

Hi, Im using Dr. Hart at Emory Johns Creek hospital. Their staff have been extremely helpful thru this whole process. I am currently waiting for my insurance approval. Hopefully I will find out by the end of this week. Good Luck with your choice.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
