Any People With Gastric Sleeve Leaks?

Recommended Posts

I had VS surgery on 2/10/10. They discover I had leak 03/17/10. Was in hospital for 12 days NPO 8. I have Jp drain in abcess and stent in stomach. I am drinking eating very well. I have lost 80lbs. Looking for people who have the same or is going thru the the same problem.

I am sorry for your leak. What symptoms were you having & do you think you had the leak for a while?

I had a leak 2 days post-revision. I had zero symptoms, and it was found during my final leak test about 2 hours before I was to be discharged.

It was immediately repaired. I did have drains, was on TPN via a pic line in my arm, and was restricted from consuming any food/liquids for 22 days.

My sleeve has healed nicely, and have had zero complications other than a hospitalization around 6 weeks post-revision due to abscesses in my abdominal and pelvic cavity. They suspect that microscopic bacteria lingered behind, and the abscesses developed slowly over those 6 weeks even though I came home on antibiotics.

My leak was repaired with heavy suturing, and I did not have to have a stent placed.

Many well wishes for a full recovery. I know how draining, not only physically, but emotionally complications can be.

The week before I had a fever of 102 and pain in stomach and back everyone thought it was the flu roto virus because going around. I actual got better and was at the surgeon's office getting a all clear the day before I really went down hill. I got sick to mystomach and weak that was very different anything I had before. So my friends called the ambulance. The Er doc did a ct scan and found the abcess.

Driver63, were you told why it took so long to discover it? This could have been very very dangerous, and is on eveybody's worry list. Did the leak no show up on the original Xrays, or did it happen later. We are all curious. Or is that nosy.....

The leak appear to show up later because I was doing and feeling great. They did a leak test before I left the hospital that show nothing.

My stent was removed from my stomach yesterday and I passed the leak test. Dr was very please. Hopefully, I will get the Jp drain out on tues. I am back on soft and pureed foods until tues at least. I didn't have anything but 8 oz broth and sugar free Jello since wedsday night. So when I got home I made protien whey shake with Ice cream. I got 40 grams of protien and tasted good. I can't do that often. Thanks for all prayer's & good thoughts.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
