Whats an abdominal binder? Where do you get one? I was thinking about just wearing a tight undershirt to hold things still.

I got mine due to back pain and I think I bought it at a sporting goods store for about $20. Walmart or Target might even carry them.

I forgot that I did wear mine a few times after surgery. If I knew I was going to be doing alot of walking or something. It was good for a little extra support.

It is about 12" wide and a few feet long. It has velcro on the edges. You wrap it snuggly around your abdomen. It is a type of stretchy rubber (?) type material. It is quite comfy. When my back is having an attack, I wear it day and night.

I am seven months out and still "get the gurgles" sometimes. No definite pattern that I can tell. I'd rather gurgle than be obese, so I'm not complaining about it.

I get the gurgles like crazy. I am only 3 weeks out but they are insane. It doesn't really bother me all that much but makes it hard to drink and eat sometimes. My husband laughs at night when we go to bed and he lays his head on my chest. He said it sounds like a lot is going on in there. I am curious what causes all the sounds. Hope it doesn't last forever though.

I have not had any real pain since I came home from the hospital on the day after surgery, however, today i think I may have pulled something at work as the left side of my stomach and across my back was hurting. It was like a cramp and then itchy needle prick feelings. I don't actually know if that made any sense but hey. I probably just overdid it at work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
