Recommended Posts

Hello.

I just wanted to start a spot where new people can get to know each other and just talk.

I'm new to the forum. I've never joined a forum before. I'm waiting to see if i can get a surgery date soon. I've done research and I'm ready. A little nervous though. I've never had surgery.

I'm a newbie too! Had the informational seminar last week and the first consult with the surgeon is this Thursday. I cannot wait! I'm tired of hating the way I look and having diet after diet fail. I'm hoping since I'll be self-pay and that the hospital's program doesn't have the 4 week nutrition class (they don't do as many bands as bypasses so the classes are geared towards bypass and the banders get a couple one on one sessions with the dietician and nutritionist) that I'll be able to get in and have it done in the next month or so.

Nice to meet you! :(

I'm also new to this site. I have done some research on the procedure, but am really nervous about the whole ordeal. I have my first consultation tomorrow, so I will find out more. I am hoping to get banded before the end of the summer. I hope to get to know lots of new friends here.

I'm new too. Just got approved by my insurance. I'm going next thurs. for my final visit before surgery, then should be 3 or 4 weeks. I'm really nervous, but I have some pretty compelling health issues, so I'm just gonna grab hold, and go for it. If I think too hard, I'll find a reason to back out.

Hi everyone! I am fairly new also. I just got my surgery date last week... June 22, 2006 with Dr. Ortiz. I am so excited. I have started my pre-surgery diet already and hope to be as healthy as possible by then. Are there any others going to Dr. Ortiz around this date. Would be fun to kinda know someone when I get there! Good luck to everyone and thanks to those who post all these ideas and support us newbies!

First of all, and I am too new to this but finally absolutely sure this is what I've having done. Still don't know positively about Anthem paying but surgeon's office called me today and set up my first appointment and a seminar date. Thanks to all of you for all of your help with all of my questions and I hope to be banded very very soon.

Patience is something I'm now learning preparing for this journey.

Hi. I'm new too. I was banded last tuesday. no problems. in fact, I have been milking it with hubby and kids. today was the first time I drove. they've been doing all my house work and food shopping. it's been a mini vacation (but don't tell them!) Everyone has been so supportive and I feel happier than I have in ages. Lynn

I'm pretty new too! I have my first doctor consult tomorrow. Excited, but a little nervous. I hope to have surgery sometime in June or July. Biker Grammy, I live in Texas, but at the other end of the State. I know there are a lot of Texas bandsters out there. Just keep lookin and I'm sure you find some in your area.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
