Yummy that sounds good.. Still on full liquid diet here, start mushies Monday,,, Maybe I can run some through the food processor. Any suggestions on something liquid I can add to it so as to make it mushie? Besides Tequilla.

As an alternative, I tried some soy chips thinking I wouldn't like them, but what the heck, I'm trying new things. Surprisingly, I do like them! The brand is Genisoy. I got the Deep Sea Salted flavor. 17 of them have 8 g Protein, 1.5 g fat, 15 carb (minus 2g fiber). They would be good dipped in something or with something on top, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Good to know!! I've been wanting some hummus pretty badly lately, but I'm not sure how to have it except on pita chips, which I can't have yet and probably shouldn't have anyway. I'll remember to look for those in a couple of weeks!

Lately; once I try something, I just don't want any more of it. I am throwing out so much food. I think the food processor thing is making me ill. Just to look at that stuff makes my tummy turn. I started soft foods this week, but once I eat something my tummy always acts like it doesn't like it, and I am only eating one to two ounces. It makes it so I can't stand to eat any of it later or make more of it. I forgot to eat this morning,, (thats a first), so I picked up some chicken salad to try. But just a little scared of it. Don't want to put my stomach in cramps again. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium, but seems my insurance company wants to talk with him first before they will pay their share. It is $220.00, I am going to give them a couple days and then just go pay for it myself,, Hopefully the medical deductions will still be good at the end of the year.

Loser, I experienced the same thing early out. I found that I used so much of that 'press and seal' stuff to keep stuff good in the fridge because I just didn't want to eat something again. Once I found something I liked, and could tolerate again, I ended up burning myself out on it.

I made my own chicken salad by boiling a boneless/skinless chicken breast in some broth, added a little egg, and light miracle whip. I did this, and froze at least half of it to have later in the week. Those little pre-made packets in the supermarket didn't appeal to me.

Prilosec and Protonix work just as well as Nexium so if your insurance wants to be a P.I.T.A, see if you can get your surgeon to consider either of those options for you. Both are available in generic. I honestly love my Prilosec even though my insurance will Nexium, I opted to go with Prilosec so if I try to wean off of it in the future, and realize I can't, I can grab some OTC until I can get a new refill from my surgeon without having issues.

Coopersmama,

If you can't find Pork rinds at the regular store in your area, try a hispanic grocery store. They are called Chicharrones in hispanic stores. However, you can go to customer service at most groceries and they will have them on the next truck.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
