This is just about the saddest thing I?ve ever read!

>> >

>> > As a bagpiper, I play many gigs.. Recently I was asked by a funeral

>> director to play at a grave side service for a homeless man. He had no family

>> or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Kentucky

>> back-country.

>> >

>> > As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost; and being a typical

>> man I didn't stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the

>> funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight.

>> >

>> > There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch..I

>> felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of

>> the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't

>> know what else to do, so I started to play.

>> >

>> > The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out

>> my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've

>> never played before for this homeless man.

>> >

>> > And as I played 'Amazing Grace,' the workers began to weep. They wept, I

>> wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and

>> started for my car. Though my head hung low my heart was full.

>> >

>> > As I was opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "Sweet

>> Mother of Jesus, I never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting

>> in septic tanks for twenty years."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
