I had my three month check in today with Dr. Pomp. I have lost 97 pounds, gone down 14 points on the bmi scale, lost 12" around my waist gone from a tight 4x shirt to a 2x shirt. All of my blood work was normal and I feel fantastic.

I got my sleeve as the first part of a two stage DS. I am hoping that the sleeve is the only surgery that i will need.

My only regret is that I did not do it sooner!

Tiff,

why are we not supposed to have caffine drinks like coffee or tea?

Judy

Coffee is a diuretic, so early on staying hydrated is essential.

I have coffee occasionally, and I still have **gasp** (because I know others will be negative about this) some sweet tea when we go out to dinner. I drink right up until the point right before the first bite of food crosses my lips. I'll sometimes even get a to-go cup, and take my sweet tea with me. I have had sweet tea about 4 times in 6 months.

I carry splenda with me because some restaraunts do not have it available.

Wow it is amazing how different each surgeon and nutritionalist is. I have had a cup of coffee every day since week 3, half caff or caff free and with just a tiny bit of cream and splenda or truvia it takes me about an hour to sip on and I look forward to it but I had never heard it was a diuretic... I will make sure I'm watching for dehydration. In the beginning I was told that caffeine slows healing down.... I know one thing I still haven't had ONE day of getting in 8 glasses of Water since surgery... more like 4-6... and I'm going on week 6... is this normal??

I started drinking coffee again about week 6. I missed it. I have one cup every morning. Every once in a great while I have a cup at night. Since I got the flu last weekend I have not had any. I am back to herbal teas, and clear Soups. I am sure I will go back to coffee with in the week. I did not know it was a diuretic. Sigh.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
