Isn't that the best feeling ever? Congratulations! A question for you though. As I have been getting new jeans, I'm finding that while the trend is cute (sort of) for the low riding jeans with a zipper like maybe an inch or two long, call me old fashioned, but I like the more traditional jeans- you know like button flies, Levi's, etc... Plus the jean material is so dang thing, a person wouldn't want to do much physical labor in them (I have a horse farm) or they would probably rip at the first bump against something. Does TJ Max sell jeans that are a little more traditional? I've been buying all my jeans at thrift stores so far.

Regarding the traditional jeans, you might try LandsEnd.com. They have the higher rise jeans and the denim is very substantial. You can order online and return at some (if not all) Sears stores if they don't fit. Some Sears stores sell them as well so you could even buy them in person.

I love the Lands End jeans as their lengths are great for shorties like me. I am sure they have for tall folks too.

Actually they had a nice variety. I can actually get all the jeans on, but do I want to be seen in all of them? No. The new style not only has such a lower waist, but they also have lower back pockets so you look like you have a droopy butt. I was able to find some Nine West jeans for $24.99 that rode a little higher on the hip. They also had Lee brand , CK, Express, Lucky brand. I don't have a Walmart of Kmart in my town so my choices are limited. I bought 1 pair of 10's from Sears but they do bother me after wearing awhile. I feel like I'm pulling them up all the time. That's what happens when you're almost 50 years old.

Th

Thank you and also to Amanda 3.0. Don't think that pulling thing is due to your age. Quite frankly, the younger girls that wear these should be pulling them up too, but don't. Proof is just watching any of them have to bend over or sit down. They might be cute to wear for an outing as long as I can tuck in my shirt and know it will STAY tucked in... ;-)

I PUT ON MY CHEERLEADING UNIFORM FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!!! Wow! I wasn't able to zip or button the skirt and it didn't quite cover my behind lol, but I still got it on and I was able to completely button the shell (uniform top). That really means something to me because even though I felt chubby at the time, since then I have known that I looked really good back then and have always considered in hindsight for that to have been my "thin" period. New goal - to get that skirt to zip and button by HALLOWEEN!!!! =P

(Sort of) an NSV for me... 15 days post-op, down 18 pounds; 83 total in 5 months. I met a guy on match.com shortly before surgery and today we finally were able to have our first date. (He knows I had surgery but not what kind.)

So guess what we did on our "date"... went SWIMMING!!! Yes, I was in a bathing suit on a first date with a guy!!! I was freaked out but he's been so complimentary of me it quickly faded. I can still wear my old bathing suits but it was nice not to have my belly peak out between my top and bottom. And I have complained about my boobs shrinking but now they actually FIT into the top and look perky and round instead of falling out all over the place! Big win for Kelly today!

For the third time since I've been married (13 years) I had to put my wedding ring back around my neck hanging from the fat chain. BECAUSE IT'S TOO BIG!! WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!

The other two times were because I was either pregnant or just too fat! NOT THIS TIME!! OH YEAHHHH!!!

A really fun NSV surprise for me today. I was in our office kitchen eating lunch and noticed that I had my legs crossed. I did it without even noticing. I haven't been able to cross my legs in years! Woot!

Looking hard for an NSV, not feeling very NSVish lately ... well I don't know if this counts and it certainly is strange but, I can now drink diet Coke or eat those 100 calorie packs in public without seeing people smirk self-righteously. If a SMO person eats or drinks diet items in public, people think it's a hoot and openly make fun of it, which is so stupid because it's a damned-if-you-do situation for the SMO person - trying to make an effort and then made fun of for making an effort, wtf. Now, if I buy a can of Coke zero or snack on a 100 cal pack of cheeze-its (I know both are still crap but I'm making a point here), nobody bats an eyelash. I'm just another vaguely chubby adult woman watching what she eats. A victory?

I hear you. I do still find myself a bit self conscience though if I do buy something as a snack that isn't very healthy sort of looking out of the corner of my eye to see what (if anything) people might do... I'm so used to the reaction you mentioned as a heavy person that my head isn't always caught up with the present of my new body image. Then, I start feeling guilty that I should put it back.... I think that's why one of the major reasons overweight people eat in hiding or alone. We judge ourselves enough as it is, that dealing w/the looks and stares is sometimes just too much. I think about all the late nights through drive thru's at various fast food places. Most times I could have half or more of the food I bought eaten before I even got home. And, let's just say I would buy WAY more than what one person should consume for a normal meal.

Sounds like you might be struggling a bit, but good for you for seeing a NSV. It seems this final stretch to goal is tougher than I expected and find myself getting into these funky moods where I get tired of "being good" which obviously doesn't help me in getting to my final goal as my weight bounces up and down like a Mexican jellybean.

Former_VBG - not to hijack the NSV thread but I so relate! And, I'm so tired of doing it all alone. Of course, I can't imagine doing it at all without this forum, but in actuality in person doing it alone in the world, it makes it so difficult, I had ENOUGH of that feeling of aloneness when I was SMO. If I just had a partner in this I could kick those last few pounds to goal!

I don't think you are hijacking the thread. I think its good for people to see/ hear this kind of thing. You are still trying to see the positives despite feeling frustrated. I do as well. I don't know what SMO stands for, but I am single as well if it is tied to that in any way.

I'll be sending you a PM.

After I take a shower and get out to dry off, I can't feel my fat/skin back jiggling as much when I rub back and forth with the towel!!! LOL pretty funny observation :) but I'm GLAD of IT!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
