Excellent choice, you will see that many of us had our surgery done by him. He and his staff are absolutely amazing!

Mine is sheduled for the 28th, and it will be interesting to see about eating slowly - now it seems I shovel it in and am done before the others. Also always clean my plate even if I feel full. So I normally am used to being stuffed with food. Anyone find it hard after the sleeve to feel stuffed like before? Does nausea kick in when you do overdo, or what?

How do you get those weight loss ticker scales up and running?

Thanks

Eating slowly is the most difficult part for me so far. At first, you will feel stuffed on a couple bites of mushies. Slowly, you can tolerate up to 2 oz of dense food, but it feels like you just ate Thanksgiving dinner. My biggest problem is eating too fast. It is painful, it feels like the food is stuck my esophagus, and I get the hiccups. A sure sign of eating too fast. And, my surgeon told me I will hurt myself if I continue to eat too fast. Gosh..it's a challenge for me. His suggestion was to set a timer for 30 min. Never eat more than 2 oz of dense food at a time. Divide the food into 6 portions. Then take 5 min to eat each portion. It works, when I have the will power to do it. If not, I suffer. It seems the better the food tastes, the harder it is to control myself. One night we stopped at Big Spoon Yogurt and I had to throw it in the trash, because it tasted so good, and I knew If I let myself, it would be my demise, not because it hurt going down or felt stuck, just the opposite, it slid down like silk. Dangerous for me. And, I my hunger came back when I started eating real food again. Head hunger or not, it still felt like hunger to me. I write down everything I consume. I average 700 calories per day and 70 and more grams of Protein. that's all I have to say for now. If you follow the rules, you will do fine.

Gosh, that is interesting advice, thanks so much! So will power is a factor here after all. Here I had hoped I could eat my fav's but just in tiny amounts. Darn. Up here in Canada we eat lots of hot comfort food all winter as it is darn cold out there. Going to be hard letting food get cold to make it last 20 - 30 minutes. Wow. But we do what we have to do right?

I was a revision on Sept 3 - short time out but very happy with the results. Lots to learn but I know I will be successful - when my band was working properly I was having great success - then it slipped and I lost nothing for months - was able to overeat - gained some weight back and I am now on the way down again. I love not being able to overeat - I feel so much better. Good Luck to Everyone!!:biggrin2:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
