Oregon, did you ever post any pictures? I am thinking I will need a face lift. Is your whole face numb? How long is the recovery (as far as not having bruising/swelling?)

I still had some swelling at abouit 2 weeks but the bruising was gone. My surgeon used ultra sound every day and it really took the bruising away. Surgery was 6 weeks ago, and I think the swelling is completely gone now.

I still have numbness and I don't know how long it's going to last.

I haven't posted pictures. I need to get my daughter to take some but I am in the middle of moving. I bought a new house and I have been in this house over 20 years. I have so much work to do to get my house empties out and get it ready to put on the market.

I've always hated having my picture taken so I really feel weird about posting pictures. I'll try to remember to do it soon though.

Well, I'm 15 mos out and I DEFINITELY have the turkey neck! AND face wrinkles! (sigh) BUT, I'm a 100 lbs lighter and can wear a size 8 skirt and 10-12 top so I guess that's okay! Lol . I'm with the rest - I'd love to have a lifestyle lift!

Years ago when I used to go the Jack La Lanne gym the trainers there would make everyone to facial excercises in the group excercise classes at then end. Typically this would include saying the vowels, "A E I O U" greatly accentuated, stretching the neck and pursing the lips with the U.....they would also have you put your head up as far as possible and purse the lips. They were saying that the facial muscles are the most underworked muscles on the face and should be added to keep firmness, that facial skin is attached to muscle and that firming the muscles naturally brings the skin tighter. I am just getting back into this routine as I am losing weight.

I looked pretty good in the face until about 20 lbs ago--then I lost the fat pads that were under my cheekbones and in my nasolabial lines, and what did the cavities fill with? Wrinkles! I have thrown in the towel and had a consultation with a plastic surgeon. He and I agreed that the upper 2/3 of my face looks good and I need a lower face/neck lift and something to plump up the nasolabial lines. He is suggesting a fat transfer for that, I am thinking Juvederm. Any thoughts?

I had my boobies re-done in July and hope to have the face work done in the next year or so. My cheeks are like deflated balloons and need some filler too. Plus as Nora Ephron put it in her book - "I Hate My Neck!". I haven't had a consult yet for my face, so not sure what my doc will suggest. Please keep us updated on what you do and how it comes out.

I really wish the numbness in my face would go away. It's been 5 months now and my face is still so numb. I hate it when my grand son kisses my cheek and I can't even feel it.

I am really afraid I will never get the feeing in my face back.

I didn't want to do Juvederm because I didn't want to have to go back and keeping getting it done. This will last forever, but I am afraid my numbness is going to last that long too.

Yeah, I am really lucky that my legs and tummy don't look bad at all. I don't know if I would have had a face lift if I would have known about all this numbness and no feeling in my face.

What kind of facelift did you have? Was it a lower, midface, or a forehead lift or a combination? My sister had a forehead/brow lift and she was numb in the forehead/bangs area for months, but the feeling gradually came back to most of the area.

My butt sags badly and my thighs look deflated, but people see my face all the time so that's where I decided to do the work first. Lower body lifts kind of scare me so I'm trying to build glutes to fill up saggy bits. I'm so flat in the rear now! Fortunately, I kept my boobs. I had Botox for the first time last month and I am underwhelmed...there was a killer headache for about three days and my eyebrow only moves on the end. Weird!

The thought of having shots in my face ( while I was awake, lol) did not appeal to me.

I had a lower eye lift and my face lift was from my eyes down and did not include my forehead. My neck looks really good but it feels really tight.

I have pictures in my camera that my surgeon took during surgery and it's nasty! My face is peeled back to the middle of my head.

I'm with Oregon Daisy -- I'm worried about my turkey neck!!!! I can see in some before/after pictures now that my face is less round and my cheekbones are beginning to show. I've always thought that the weight made me look older, so I'm hopeful that I'll look alright.

I've heard that it may take a couple of years for my skin to adjust to my size. Anyone else heard that?

How does everyone feel about cosmetic surgery at our age? Anyone done anything?

I will be 58 in January. I don't believe i did this, but a few month ago, i went to plastic surgeon, asking what he could do about my turkey neck.(inherited from my mom)

He said he could do this and that...and things would be alot better. I knew i would be having WLS eventually - he said i should not do it until my weight loss, so he can pull all the skin up. BTW it would cost $5,000.00!!!!! Nope i said to myself, i need to get thin, not broke.!!

My surgery is 12/6, can't wait. I'd rather haved a successful weight loss than have cosmetic surgery.

Yes, I have spent a small fortune on myself. 10,000 for the lap band, 10,000 to have it removed and get sleeved, and now 5,000 for my face lift. Thank goodness I am all done with all of this. I am done spending my kids' inheritance! :tongue2: :biggrin2:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
