Bad carbs are evil. I can't wait to get my Vit.D test back. If my vit. D is off, it could explain why I have cravings for sweets even when I cut them out.

I think when we get home, we are going to order that test for Beardeditalian - he so totally craves sweets ... wonder if his tastes for sweets will change after surgery and everything will be super sweet like it is for me. I actually did crave a donut today!

That's the FIRST I have heard of that! Maybe I missed something but how does your VitD being off affect your craving for sweets? I just started taking VitD a few months ago cuz mine was low.

When do you crave carbs? When it is Low or High....??? Maybe I need to research this a little more.... Thanks!!

WASa is the "expert" so to speak with regard to this matter - I am sure she will post the information with regard to this finding and you can research it more on your own. Plus the link to order the test.

I'm no expert, I'm still learning a great deal about this myself. But I do have info from the Vit D Council posted here:

http://verticalsleevetalk.com/vitamins-supplements/375-vitamin-d.html

Most MO folks are low on Vit D.

Many people are low on it even if they aren't MO, I am finding out. A lot of people don't take Vitamins or sit in the sun.

Wow I did not know that Vitamin D and craving sweets were related. I just had my blood work done and vit D was off and i'm hypoglycemia. Just joined the group today. I to am tired of the band. It has been great for awhile as long as it's to tight so I can not eat. But now that is changing to. Starting to gain weight.

Wow, it's been a year since I started this thread.

I have been at goal for over 6 months and I still love my sleeve. I can eat anything I want, just not a lot or big portions. I still crave sweets and my vit D did not come up when I was taking 2-4,000 mg per day. I am now taking 50,000 once a week and I am going to get it checked again.

WasA told me that the 50,000 once a week was the best way to bring it up.

An article in Shape magazine mentioned that if you're craving something sweet, it may help to have a small portion of something spicy, like salsa. Somehow it tricks the tastebuds and makes the craving less intense. It's worth a try.

I can't even imagine craving sweets. Everything tastes so unbearably sweet right now. I had a sip of apple juice (not sweetened, just the juice) last night, and it was so sweet it made me gag. I have to cut apple juice with 50% Water just to drink it!

Most of the things I've been craving are salty!

I can't eat anything really spicy right now. I am trying my best to get off my PPI which I was supposed to go off of at 6 months and I couldn't because of severe heartburn. I am doing pretty well after being off of it for a week, unless I eat something spicy.

I have not had surgery yet. Still jumping through hoops. My Cardiologist just gave me a clearance letter for WL surgery.

My VitD was way low when I tested 3 months ago because I wear sunscreen all the time... 11. Women should have closer to 40. I was feeling depressed, and eating lots of sweets too. I took the 50,000 once a week for 6 weeks and now am taking smaller doses daily. I do feel better and don't crave sweets as much. My Dr. said that there is not a lot known about VitD at this time, but lots of research is being done and it looks like it will turn out to be a very important vit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
