June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hey Pinky,

I have never had a fill. I had enough restriction until the last month or so. Now I'm down to a pound a week, so I went in Wednesday for my first fill. My doctor warned me that if he couldn't find my port, I might have to have it done with flouro, but he was confident. Well, five minutes of poking and digging later (ouch!), he admitted defeat. However, now I have to make an appointment to go to radiology at the hospital, so it will be at least another week...

Sorry so many people are having problems. My doctor asked me if I wanted a big fill or a little fill. When I said a little fill, because I didn't want to be too tight, he told me that was a great decision. I told him hearing all of your stories made me conservative.

The past few days I have been so tight I could barely get down 12 oz of water...couldn't eat at all! Yesterday, everytime I drank Water my chest hurt so bad it felt like a knife was stuck in it!:) I was so worried I slipped my band. I went to Dr. Ortiz at 9am this morning and everything checked out fine.:clap2: However, they did remove .2 cc's. Since then, I have been able to drink water and I had a little Soup earlier.:) It seems my band didn't get any looser even after my 20 lb drop since my last fill.:) Maybe some people just get tighter.:phanvan

I noticed alot of junebies are also having issues with tightness lately. My fill doc told me today that when winter comes on you can get tighter....interesting.

:) Beacheegirl,

I am right with you girlfriend! I have been stalled at my current weight for 7 weeks now. But with the support of a few key people I have realized that we cannot give up. It is VERY hard to see everyone else losing around you. But we have to stick together and know that this plateau will not last. Don't get down on yourself. Sometimes our bodies have a hard time letting go of the fat. Stay on your current course. Try to think positively. Measure your inches to make sure you are not losing there instead of the scale. In the beginning that was happening to me. But now I can't go anywhere it seems, pounds or inches. I have ordered 3 new dance videos to help me get excited about working out, and maybe I will do more of it if I think it is fun. I have been walking on my treadmill, but I think I need to get off of that and move my whole body. Don't be sad, we all have our days of frustration, but this too shall pass. We are all here for you, in the same boat, and none of us (without surgery) can abandon ship. Let us know how you are doing, and take care.

It is difficult to see how much everyone else is losing. That's the problem with our community. We get to see what everyone is doing. We can be doing everything right, but don't see the results other have. Just keep with your program and eventually those fat cells have to leave our body. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will lose slowly. Sometimes I lose the same 3 lbs over and over. Hang in there. Keep getting everything checked to make sure there is nothing wrong with the band and that the fill is adequate. Keep eating the right foods and getting some exercise. That's all you (we) can do. Don't beat yourself up over no or little weight loss. It won't do any good.

On a positive note I was able to eat dinner last night. I ate a normal sized bandster meal. I was full. This is the first time I've actually felt that full feeling. It was good. The tightness in my throat (chest) comes and goes, but not as intense as it was. I just know not to slug my Water, but take it slow and easy.

I've been reading about some doctors saying that the change in weather causes some to get tight. Umm, that is what I told someone the other day. Restriction just came on me so fast. Maybe there is something in that. I know when I flew a few weeks ago I got tighter coming and going. Not enough to cause problems, but I did feel the difference.

OK guys its going to be a GOOD weekend. :)

Oh no! I live in Colorado where the weather changes every 10 minutes!

I really thought I had a good fill till a couple day ago I actually ate chicken (a little) last nite. Also I purposely ate a little fast and no pb's, I hope this does not mean I have to go for another fill, I am truthfully afraid to do that not knowing what will be in store for me if I do. But I do know for 2 days I really feel more hungry and eating much more than usual.

It's good to know that the weather change could be causing problems.

I don't like being tighter, but it will pass and I love the cooler weather we're getting in the Houston area.

Genn and Beachee Girl,

Perhaps there needs to be a special recognition for bandsters who continue to follow the rules although losing slowly or not at all. If you continue to plateau, perhaps you should check with an endocrinologist. A journal would be invaluable to you and your health professioal.

Cathy,

Good move on the fill decision and good luck with the first fill. No more fills for me unless I am 100% positive it will be helpful.

A new NSV for me. I just realized that I'm learning how to handle my emotional stresses in a much more positive way. food was a bandaid for my depression that never promoted healing. I'm facing demons I ran from before. No where to hide now--unless it's LBT.com!

Pinkylee...........glad to hear I am not alone with my demons. I am trying to learn to deal with being thinner. Whenever I lose the weight I sabbotage myself and start to eat again, this time will have to be different.

How can we help each other with these issues? I know mine is a matter of low self esteem. I've dealt with this all my life. It's easier to hide under the fat.

You still have lost way more then me but I see we can commiserate together... I do dance video's too. I tend to really like the cardio kickboxing ones. I also like the ones that have cardio mixed in with super sets of light weight lifting. Also, I LOVE the exercise ball. It makes situps and pushups much more doable and it feels like it really targets core muscles the best.

Keep me posted...good luck to you!

Beachee, Sorry about my redundent comment. What you're going thru is tough enough without having to re-explain yourself.

Lisa, Welcome. When you go to "edit signature" I've found that if you click on the icon that looks like a stamped letter, delete the http that's there and then hit Control V you can easily copy your ticker from the factory.

I fight myself all the time over losing more weight. My excuses? I'll wrinkle, I'll be sickly, I'll lose my cheerful, round face, plump people are more pleasant, smile more. I'm learning more about myself every day that I can't hide behind food and fat Some of it, I don't like. A lot of it I'm afraid of.

It's been an interesting trip. At the end of all this, the real me will have to emerge.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
