Hi everyone,

Question -- when you submit your paperwork what is it that the insurance company looks for? Is it supposed to show that you lost weight? Can you get denied if you went up in weight?

I am trying to get my lap band done and I am struggling to get an actual date. I am trying not to get frustrated but it's crazy all the hoops they make you jump thru. Thanks in advance for your help.

Susana

My doctor's office did everything for me. I did nothing. Ask the office for help.

Good luck with your new journey, I love mine!

my md's office did almost everything..i was just pushy and kept in contact with my insurance casemgr. i did not have have any supervised wt loss sessions..each insurance is different. most require a psych visit, documenation that shows you have tried many other methods and either succeeded and gained back frequently or were not able to lose the weight, dietitian visit, and my md dr Keith mcEwen in Noblesville, IN included an exercise physiologist, though it was not required. to me, picking the right surgeon was crucial! I would think your md's office will work on this. you can contact your insurance company and ask them what the stipulations are for you. deb

You should not have to be submitting anything. Its between your primary and your surgeon to get all the paper work submitted for your surgery.

All of you have confirmed what I had been thinking.

My doctor submitted all of my documents including the required medically supervised diet. My insurance requires me to do a four month diet, which I've done. It just so happens that since my initial consultation my weight has increased. I've gained weight purposely because I missed the required BMI count by 2. I need to be at a 40 BMI, at that time I was at a 38.

Another factor is that I am tall. At my initial consultation I did not qualify because my BMI was low due to my height. Now that my BMI is where it needs to be I figured it would go a lot smoother. Not the case. From what I am being told, I may have to do another four months of dieting.

The way I see it, I've been dieting all my life, how much more dieting do I need to do?!?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
