I lost my job today

I understand your desire to have the band, but this is one time I have to agree with Mis73,

One thing to consider is that complications can occur by filling a band prematurely as others have mentioned. that can result in a SLIP.

You can read the complications from the link above.

and No Doctor that is Ethical will Pre bill for something that he didn't do it's called insurance Fraud.

Good luck in your decision, I hope you find an answer to your insurance problem!

Yeah I understand :) I am getting unemployment and between that, my boyfriend, and my mom we will handle the payments for fills! I am 100% confident.

I didn't expect people to tell me to postpone my surgery :(

I'm in your same boat. My hubby started a new job this week and will not get insurance until 90 days but I was approved and set this all up before he quit and so my insurance will run out at the end of the month. There's NO WAY im going to cancel. We will most likely do cobra OR just pay out of pocket until his insurance kicks in in 90 days. I understand that people r trying to be helpful by saying to cancel but personally I wouldnt. Only because I really need it, have worked hard to finally get approved and am so looking forward to it. I go in for surgery in 8 hours. Im so anxious I cant sleep. Lol. Good luck with all that. Hope ot turns out well.

Whilst I'm not familiar with the insurance impacts in the USA, I had my surgery in between jobs. It allowed me the time off to recover and I felt I started the new job as a new person, focused on healthy eating and exercise. I chose not to tell many people about my surgery, so even though I was losing weight relatively fast, people at the new job didnt ask too many questions, given they saw the lifestyle I was leading. I think it was a tremendous help in achieving my weight loss goal.

I wish you all the best with the surgery and on the job search. :)

Yeah, Ive worked almost 2 years with research and finally deciding to do it, then all the insurance crap I had to go through! I'm not doing that over again!!! Cobra or another insurance plan for a few months might be an option for me but fills and visits are probly cheaper at $135. If for whatever reason I have complications(God forbid) and need surgery I'll just marry my boyfriend first and use his insurance hahahaah! gotta love america.

Good luck to you as well!

That's how I feel too and I'm going to be able to recover on my own terms!!! Once I feel I've done that and mastered my new life I will be a whole new happy and confident person for my next job!

Well, if they STICK IT to us, we should STICK IT to them.

By "they" & "them" I mean the system. Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
