Bra Recommendations Please!

So I just got back from Kohls. That sucks so hard core! They had a huge selection of bras on sale but it's freak'n impossible to find 36DD! There were a ton of smaller sizes' date=' and even 40-42DD, but I was lucky to find one 36DD in each style.

I tried on at least 8 different bras. Platex, Maidenform, Warner, Olga, Vanity Fair and Bali. The problem I'm having is the dang excess skin. I am finding if the bra cuts too deep between the girls, I just icky skin squishing up the middle. If they don't have good side support I have skin hanging over the bra. UGH!!

I did get one made by Bali with light padding, no underwire, but good lift. It's not the best in the world but it's still a lot better than what I was wearing.

I'm definitely going to keep trying others on this thread, too. Thank you ladies!! <3[/quote']

Just wondering how you are measuring yourself? A friend told me about leaning forward to measure my cup size. Lean forward so that you back is parallel to the floor and measure across the nipple. This made a real difference for me. I'm in a 38DD now with no excess anywhere. Maybe your cup size is a bigger than you think?

I actually wondered if my cup size is bigger than a DD. It's just so awkward because of the skin. My daughter thinks I should get professionally measured and the more I read, I think it's probably a good idea.

Does Soma have pluz size bras in store or is it only for skinny minis? I wear a 40D Lane Bryant bra (which I love the fit) but it shows my headlights a little too much. After seeing the Soma videos, I'd love to go in and try them out, but I don't want to waste my time if they only carry regular sizes. thx.

They have from a 32A to 42DDD and they are very good at fitting you in the right bra.

I am a 36DD. I have lost 90lbs...a little saggy but not terrible! I just bought a Body by Victoria bra that is really comfy (so far). I read an article about how you should bend at the waist and scoop your hand under your arms, under the breast, and lift up to fit your bras properly. It makes a difference.

Hi Missy, I am also a 36DD. I recently went for a private measure at a boutique that specializes in bras for mastectomy patients, but also for the general public. I was measured, and left with a Dominique brand 36DD and a Bali 40D. They both fit beautifully, and she chose two bras that have exceptionally large back straps (heighth-wise) which smooths out my problem of back fat under my arms and from the back. Both bras cost me about $40 bucks total, which I thought was great, and neither were bras I would have selected to try on. My vote is for the professional fitting! I just got tired of having a drawer full of bras I didn't want to wear for one reason or another.

My fav is Victoria's Secret Body by Victoria Full coverage...exactly as you described needing but super comfortable also, cute prints and make the boobs look fabulous! They are kinda pricey but I buy them during their semi-annual sale and they have great sizing options too. Good luck =)

I've had problems finding a good fitting bra as well. I was measured and told what size, grabbed a bra that size and it was pretty sad, same problem extra skin falling out of the cups, so I've tried a few different sizes and gone shopping 5 different times and come out frustrated and in tears! They are too expensive to buy if they don't fit well. So I keep wearing my current bra which is about 4 band sizes too big or I may stick with my sports bras....good coverage and hides any excess skin! Bra shopping really makes me want to a breast lift!

I don't have a particular brand, but I think going to a bra store and getting fitted is key. There are a few in NYC i've been to. I would look around your area, or closest big city for a bra boutique. It is worth $, drive, ect. Good luck

After having lost close to 50 lbs, the girls have gone south on me. I was just measured 2days ago. I went from a 38dd to a 36dd,or a 34ddd. I went to Dillard's for my fitting, and was very impressed with Wacoal bras. The bras are very comfortable, and they do a major lift for the girls. They lift you without all the padding. They r somewhat pricey,$50-$80, but totally worth it.

I tried Bali and Platex but no luck.

Once I get some time I'm getting a professional fittings.

First thing would do is get a proper fitting and go from there. I go too a place in Baton Rouge The alter them and all. When I started going there many years ago I was a 44h. Now I'm a 36g

Ok ladies' date=' after losing 227 pounds I've gone from a 52G/H to a 36DD bra. The problem is, my girls are awful. No really, they're very droopy and sometimes I swear there's more skin than breast tissue. They need some serious help so I don't look like an issue of National Geographic gone horribly wrong.

So, I'm looking for your input. For those of who have bigger boobs, like a D cup or more, what bra do you prefer? I need something with lift but also some light padding in the cup so the girls don't look odd shaped. But, not too much padding because I don't want to look bigger and not "push up" because I'm not trying to be cleavage queen, either. Just some shape and to hoist the girls back up where they belong.

Thanks ladies!![/quote']

I love lane Bryant bras.

Victoria Secret bras are the best in my opinion! There are many different brands to chose from, you just have to see which is what you are looking for! They will size you as well! They are pricey, but worth every penny! I personally love the bombshell!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
