So, I am on day 2 of the 5 day pouch test and the food monster is telling me to eat everything, but I am not actually hungry. This head hunger this is annoying as hell. My question is, how does everyone deal with this issue?

Acknowledging it to yourself, then go get busy doing something else. If it's time for Water, now is a good time to get some in. Good luck!

What is a five-day pouch test? I do know I can do most anything for five days but I'm not sure what this is -- a way of checking to make sure you band is set? Thanks so much for the intel!

Right after I was banded I decided to learn a new hobby to help confront head hunger so I taught my self how to crochet. I know sounds odd, but it was something that kept both my hands busy so there was not hand to mouth need that I think is a lot of head hunger.

One of my biggest problems pre-band was the after dinner snack while watching TV. That is when head hunger hit the hardest for me. I still have attacks of it when I let myself break rules. :) But I find if I can make it about 3-4 days, then the head hunger goes away.

Be strong. you can beat it!

Thank you. I used to crochet years ago with my late aunt when I was a little girl. I think that's a great idea. I may take it back up to keep my mind busy

Very fact that you're acknowledging the head hunger versus actual hunger is huge. Now you just need to preoccupy yourself with something else.

Im currently trying to find a hobby to keep me occupied. Ive noticed that ive been working out a whole lot, because every time I get head hunger, I exercise. Not a bad thing, but I need to find something to occupy myself on my down time. Doing the pouch test brought me back to when I first got my band and I now pay attention to how I actually feel rather than just eating because it taste good or feeding my emotions.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
