Helppp !! 2nd fill a total of 8cc

Recommended Posts

Good morning !!! I got banded on April 15 and my first fill on May 28 and lost only 5lbs with the saline but a total of 18lbs after the surgery. I inform my surgeon I had no restriction so he put a total of 3cc, which is now 8cc in my band !! I have restriction and I'm fine!! My situation is that I'm having a lot of stomach pains and its to the point That i can barely walk!! I saw my primary doctor and believes I'm not use to the adjustment or maybe it's too tight ? I love my restriction, and I lost 6lbs in a week =] but I don't know what to do because the pain is unbearable !!!

I would call your surgeon and talk to them, something's not right and the quick weight loss is not worth the misery because it's not good for your health. I had my second fill a couple of weeks ago, have great restriction, but get stuck at least once daily. I am going in this afternoon for an unfill, because I have been miserable with the stuck episodes.

I am no medical expert but it sounds as though your Doctor filled you too much too soon but either way you shouldn't be in pain and certainly not to a point you can barely walk. I would call right away and get in there. May be they should do a fluoroscopy to make sure your band is healthy.

Is the stomach pain all the time or just when you eat?

Since the only thing that has changed is the fill, than start there. Get a partial unfill. Test it out for a week or more and see if this resolves you stomach pain. If not, take out more until it does.

8cc in less than 3 months is very aggressive.

I am 4 yrs banded and at 5.5cc. However, that is not to say that is the norm. But it took me well over 5 months just to get to the 5cc mark.

Do you have a 10 or 14cc band

Last note: Despite the great feeling of losing quick weight, that is not the goal. And we certainly should not be accomodating pain to do so. Unfortunately we somtimes have to take a step back to move forward, otherwise, severe complications can result that will bring you all the way back to step 1

Please do not wait to call your doctor. It could be band related and it could be something else entirely. You had this surgery to make your life better and to be healthier.

If you have pain that is serious, and you need to make that call ASAP and find out what's up for the sake of your health. Weight loss will come, don't be discouraged if you need an unfill, you can always put it back that's the beauty of the band.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you everyone for the advise !! I went to my doctor right away and from the looks of it, he said he's more then sure it's not the band! He feels its something else, it's either gastritis or gallstones !! I'm getting a ultrasound first thing in the morning. I'm not feeling that great but hopefully with time I get better !! Ty again for the advice and support , I appreciate it =]

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
