You need to see your bariatric surgeon immediately- not an ER doc or family doctor. Only a bariatric surgeon is trained to identify problems with your band.

And yes, you can have a slip or erosion without vomiting.

My bariatric surgeon was convinced that my band had slipped, so much so that last week he ordered, and I completed a repeat of the upper GI study I completed in June in a different state with a different surgeon (I have moved since my band was placed). The results showed a perfectly placed band...again. But I appreciated his wanting to be through with his medical opinion.

My symptoms are only present at night after I am asleep, and otherwise I am able to eat without any adverse events. My surgeon discussed with me that even with slipped band, some patients are able to eat normally with few complications. With the symptoms I presented with he told me he would be surprised if my band had not slipped. I feel fortunate that it was still in place, otherwise he would have removed it.

It will be best to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. I am not a physician, and only am able to share my own experiences!

I have a slipped band and am able to eat fine. The only problem i have now is that i have a hiatal hernia as well that is causing bad acid reflux & esphogael spasms

Annette did u have to have your slipped band fix or did it fix on its on, I have such band acid reflux...im so worried and really dont want to have to go through surgery again.

I have an appt with my Dr on Monday to talk about the hernia repair. As far as needing surgery to repair the slip, my Dr said there was no urgent need, because I wasnt getting stuck & wasnt having nausea or vomiting. However, I have a feeling he will recommend a band removal due to me having the hiatal hernia, the old 4cc band(6.5yrs ago), & my gastro Dr finding some slight erosion in my stomach due to the acid reflux.
