when were you banded? how you eat or drink is a big part of the success of the band and yes it is worth it... without the band I would still be obese and suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. not to mention the lack of mobility. If you are past the recovery period and have had a fill you just need to concentrate on Protein and chewing and eating slowly. Drinking at least 30 minutes after your meals..

I take small bites and have a minute between swallowing and the next bite. It works well for me. Use a minute sand timer or the "eat slower" app on your phone to get a good rhythm. Sometimes I have to spend on coffee during my meal, it relaxes me for some reason. Watch what you eat early in the day. Most people are tighter with their first meal and have to do a variation on mushy foods and Protein shakes to get the first meal in.

The types of foods make a huge difference, some people have problems with certain ones and others not. Experiment cautiously but done be totally afraid to try new things. Doughy bread, sticky rice, fresh carrots and fresh broccoli are not my friend at all.

Talk to your Dr. Maybe you are too tight. I had the hiatal hernia repair at the same time as being banded, Dr put in 4cc at surgery and I ended up having everything removed because the swelling from the hernia repair. Everyone is different, but it's worth talking to the doctor about and maybe even getting a fluoroscopy done.

Good luck.

I couldn't eat solid food while banded at all. My band was positioned incorrectly. I really developed maladaptive eating habits. I hated trying to eat, I dreaded it because of the extreme pain it caused, so I stuck mostly with liquids. And even they would come up at times (and through my nose, too!)

You need to consult your surgeon. Make sure your band is correctly placed. Also make sure you're chewing really well. (And I hate to advise that because I got told that all the time and it simply wouldn't have made a difference because my esophagus was being strangled due to the incorrect position. That's why I recommend making sure the band's in the right place first.)

You might not be able to eat some of the foods you're currently eating. Unfortunately, it's really trial and error.

I hope you can find some help so you can feel better.

I was banded may of 2012 and got pregnant one month later. In that one month i lost 30lbs and gained 30 back from the pregnancy and Luckily lost 28lbs I just got my first fill on Friday which put me up to 4cc. I know it's not an awful amount of Fluid which Is why I can't understand the burping and hiccups and vomiting when the food gets stuck. I feel terrible amounts of pressure while eating. I've lost 7lbs in 9 days which I know everyone thinks is great but the dr said 1 lb per week not per day. I can't even drink too fast as it is very uncomfortable. I went from being able to eat "normally" if I watched my bite sizes to not being able to eat at all. My kids see me over the garbage calm all the time and I don't like that. Any advice is appreciated.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
