I was given my pre op diet sheet yesterday and they are really against bananas! I would have thought bananas being mushy to begin with would be acceptable but they are not?

Anyone else have the no bananas rule?

Nope I haven't heard that. But I also don't like bananas so maybe I just didn't pay attention to that one!!! I would have thought they would have been ok though. When I think of mushy food I think of baby food.. And my babies loved mashed banana!!

For some reason it's a no-no on my pre op diet!

No bananas pre op because they are high in sugar. Definitely no popcorn or bread unless the bread is toasted. Pre op I was able to eat all of the green veggies I wanted so I took advsntage of that, especially when I was hungry. I had salad, spinach, brocolli, or greens. It helped.

How are you feeling today?

I feel good for the most part. First day back to work bc I work at a school and I think I'm more pooped out from that. Plus only sleeping twenty mins at the hospital and last night my head hit my pillow and I was out. And today was kinda hard bc I could only have liquids kinda starving. So I did eat some soft food and I did fine.

I appreciate everyone checking on me. I was so mad at myself

I have the steri strips on the outside and stitches on the inside. I can feel a tugging or pulling too. It sure hurts at times. Now 7 days post-op. Hopefully returning to work tomorrow.

Did you return to work? If so, how did it go? I'm off work, however; would like to get back. I have my first post op visit next Tuesday.......

Day 5 post op. I have been off pain meds since day 2. I have this slight tugging pain under my left breast' date=' (especially when I take a deep breath). I think, it is associated with the repair of my hiatal hernia. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried calling surgeons office, but their 'out to lunch'. How is everyone sleeping? I have been sleeping on my back & sometimes on my right side. No one has told me any different. I hope, I haven't done any damage. I don't even know where my port is...... I'm feeling full most the time. Anyone from the St. Louis area?[/quote']

I had surgery on the 14th and this was actually the worst pain I experienced and it comes and goes, my doc told me to blow in to a balloon (didnt get a breathing thing from hospital) its a weird spasm of muscle contracting kind of pain. the blowing hard in to the balloon seems to helps some. I do that every now and then and just put ice on it. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
