Second day postop. Not hungry. Just sore. I haven't been able to get all my Protein in. I can't wait for the pain to subside. The thought of food makes me sick. Weird. I have been moving around.....

It took a couple of days for me to feel hungry, and about seven days to start feeling human again! Just keep on top of your pain meds :) Are you having gas pains?

Thank you angemc! I just feel out of my element. Can't get comfortable for anything. I didn't take pain meds yet today. I probably just need to break down & take some. Yes, I have gas pains. I'm sending my husband out for some medicine to help with the Constipation. How are you feeling angemc?

I'm feeling great! Apart from some discomfort if I lay on my port I feel fine. I promise it does get better :) I had terrible gas pains that bought me to tears and on day 4 decided I didn't need ibuprofen anymore. Boy did I pay for it that night!! After that I kept on top of it. I was having some issues with hunger, so I spread my daily allowance over 4 meals instead of 3. That has helped for most of this week until today. I'm sooo hungry!! I think I'll definitely be ready for my first fill on the 29th.

I am day 4 post op and still not too hungry. I do force myself to sip some broth. Still have some discomfort around port area and some left shoulder pain but gas has been minimal. If you slip on your pre op diet, just get back on the wagon and you should be fine. I went to a family reunion three days before I was banded and did eat something I was not supposed to. I saw some posts where the pre op diet was not followed at all and they were still banded, but I dont advise that. Good Luck everyone

Got my band 6 days ago, very out of it on pain meds for first 3 days. Barely ate anything. Still sleeping on my back, one port stitched to muscle so still sore. i eat/drink maybe twice a day even though I know I'm supposed to be getting protein/fluids in. I just have no interest in food at all. My right leg has been numb feeling (like it's asleep) for a few days. Surgeon said prbly nerve related and to monitor for swelling, pain, color change etc. which might indicate clot. Just numb though, doesn't affect my walking. Stopped pain meds yesterday and seems to be ok. Headed back to work tomorrow.

I didn't have much of a pre op diet either, had to lose 10 lbs before surgery but I ate regular food up until the day before. I had all the info and resources on healthy eating, Protein requirement etc. so I did make some changes before surgery like calorie free fluids, Meal Replacement bars etc. I'm 6 days post op and have very little gas pain (chewable Gas-Ex helped) . I also have no interest in food, I have a shake or some broth once a day and I definitely need to bump up fluids as I only drink 24 ozs a day.

Aghhh really struggling with my hunger at the moment. I was managing ok with four small meals a day but have been soooo hungry over the weekend. That cup and half my doc wants me to have is just not cutting it! I'm probably eating twice that. Hub keeps telling me that it is a good sign, obviously the swelling has gone down... but oh my gosh it's like I don't even have a band!! Anyone getting banded tomorrow??

Had my surgery on 8/14. Everything went well but a little more sore today. No nausea so far. Still on thickened liquids. I don't know if I feel huge restriction because I'm still on liquids. I don't really feel the band either. Still a bit numb around the incision sites. Anyone else have staples? Feel like they are tugging a bit.

I was stitched at one incision and theyre internal stitches that are dissolvable. I still feel sometimes like I am "pulling" where my port is.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
