I was also banded on 7/11. My gas pains went away after I vomited twice yesterday. Too much moving around in and out of the car, caused me to vomit.

Congratulations on your banding gumbo1971; I know you are probably so happy right now. Are you very tired after the surgery, it seem very scarey to me. But people seem so happy afterwards and say that they did not regret it one bit. I pray that that will be my experience to. Good luck and take care of yourself.

Thanks Minnesota, I'm not as tired as I thought I would be. Even with all the pain and discomfort it will be worth it in the end. I don't regret being banded. It is a huge commitment and adjustment. I've been preparing myself for the past two months physically and mentally. In some ways I believe getting and being banded is more mental. It has been an emotional rollercoaster. Just take it one day at a time. I also use Myfitnesspal as my other tool. I hope this helps. Please contact me if you want more information!!

The heating pad will help get the gas moving. It's the gas they use to inflate you while operating. It is by far the worst part of the process. Gasx works for the intestinal gas as well.

Careful with vomiting. It can rip the stitches and cause internal bleeding. As a rule of thumb you should never vomit!

Congratulations!! I am one month post op. From what I understand the arm pain can be from gas! Walk as much as possible. It really helps move all that gas out! Also' date=' my back was very sore and I was told that was due to the hernia repair! I didn't have much shoulder pain. Just incision/port pain. Week two was when the back pain began. Now that I look back it wasn't all that bad. The results will be worth it!! I've lost 25lbs since surgery on June 11, 2013![/quote']

Congrats to u girl! I can't wait to lose 25 pounds!

Amazing how well we July banisters are doing. I feel pretty good today also. A little gas pain but otherwise pretty good. I had a hernia repair also.

I wonder why do many of us had hernias too? I am a RN but the researcher in me wants to know if there is a correlation between the hernias and the weight gain. I have never read that but I will be investigating it.

I had a huge hernia repair. From what I have been told 1/3 of my stomach was in my chest cavity.

My surgeon explained it to me saying that the more obese we are the more our stomach has no place to go so it pushes up through the diaphragm. This is what gets repaired as a hiatal hernia. He said when he does lb surgery he is surprised if he doesn't have to fix one.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
