I can officially say am a success story now! A year ago I would visit this forum 1000000x a day looking at the successful stories and felt inspired by all of you!!!! I hope my success story inspires new people who are considering to do this surgery!!!

A year ago I was 19, obese, depressed and used food to be my comfort and way to relieve myself! I tried loads of diets, slimming pills, even a personal trainer!!!!!!! But never lost more than 5kgs and never kept it off! My parents always blamed themselves for my weight and tried their best to motivate me to lose weight, I went to a nutritionist and she suggested the gastric balloon but i wanted a permanent solution so I decided on the gastric band with my parents! I was nervous and unsure about me succeeding so I asked advise and guidance from many of u here who have helped and I am very grateful! Previous success stories here not only pushed me to believe I can do it but it guided me to know how you all did it!!! I am here for all of you!!!

Height: 5ft 4

Before my surgery:

116kg

July 2nd- Day of surgery: 102kg

Today: 54kg

I was a size 18-20

Now I am a happy size 8! I eat healthily, Protein and veggies mostly, exercise 5X a week for half an hour to an hour! My whole lifestyle is completely different now!

Thanks for your story dalia93-- I am in the pre-testing phases and am hoping for a surgery date in sept (ugh--seems sooooo far away) ...and YES...you are an inspiration. ;)

I too lurk for hours at a time looking for the success stories and trying to learn all I can from the success stories and the strugglers as well! Im hoping by the time my surgery comes I will have fully "wrapped" my head around all of the information I am taking in.

I do know there is WORK involved and happily I am not afraid of that!!!!

Perhaps you could post a before and after pic on your profile....I always find the pics to be so powerful!

Thanks again for the inspiration!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
