I watched a video

Recommended Posts

I am not banded yet July 31st is my date but I watched a YouTube video on a fill and I am a little scared lol. Does it hurt? The needle looks so thick. I'm not going to let a needle change my decision to get it but wow the needle looked thick lmao do they numb the area?

Everyone is concerned before a fill! Once you have one, you're, like, is that all?! Trust me, I've had 2 and was anxious before my first and it was for no reason. Honestly, I don't know if he numbed the area or not but I didn't watch and it was done before I knew it! One difference for me vs others is that my surgeon does all my fills (I've heard some iffy stories from those who get them from nurses, pas, etc.

Don't worry, it's probably the easiest part of having the band!

NO, it does NOT hurt and I have serious NEEDLE phobia; my weekly allergy shot hurts much worse than a fill and I have had a BUNCH :)

I was terrified yesterday! I felt a little inch and then that's it! He goes threw the incision becuz the nerves are all dead and numb on the incision... After the got it in and found the port I even watched what he was doing. I had some air in my tube that he was showing me how he was getting it out and then just pushed the saline in... I did hold the nurses hand tho! Haha he told me alot of the the time with injections it's the medicine that's in the needle that hurts more then the needle itself! And in our case the Fluid is just basically Water and it's not going into us, it's going into the tubing! I promise you'll be ok!

I'm also a needle phobe and its painless. My doc gives me a local anaesthesia first that burns just a little, but I can't feel the fill needle at all. And I have zero pain after its over either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
