Does anyone's Port hurt weeks after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Kinda weird feeling I am having... it's like a discomfort that I cannot explain. I know the port is there and is aches at times. Last night Had to take some of my lortab from surgery just to calm it down... is this temporary?

I'm 6 weeks post op and my port still hurts some times. It hurts in the morning when I wake up from laying on that side and after I go for a walk. I guess since walking uses your core muscles it irritates the band. I mentioned it at my follow up appt and the nurse said that it's very normal for the port to hurt like that for several months post op.

Sounds normal, but Lortab will stop you up, try tylenol.

I am glad to hear about this "Port" issue from other banders. I've only been banded for 3 weeks now but on my left side near my belly button I get this stinging pain at times, also I have a pain that is really indescribable near my port. In time I hope that goes away and after seeing these posts I am positive it will.

Yep, banded on May 15th and port area is definitely more sore on some days than others...haven't really figured out a "why" yet, but it's really more discomfort than pain, and certainly in my case not Lortab-worthy

I was banded on 5/28 and the two largest incisions still hurt quite a bit, but I'm even more concerned that they feel lumpy, like there is a lot of scar tissue there. Is this normal?

I had the same issue, for a while I was concerned, but around week 4 it settled down. The only thing I have to watch is my wire bras and jeans when I wear them together and go to sit down it will aggravate it sure as anything. Mine was mostly on my right side, and once in awhile I would get a twinge on the left. I know the one on the right was my port. I don't know why it hurt on the left. Yours should go away soon.

My port still bothers me sometimes. I believe its from my underwire bra. I recently drove over 2000 miles on vacation with a wire bra on and I had discomfort for days after. The sitting gets to me too.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
