Hi everyone,

I just received that call I've been waiting for all week, approval from my insurance for lap band. Soooo excited. I have a meeting with my dr., Dr. Pucci of NJ this Wednesday.

I was wondering if I had all the tests (blood, urine, etc), pysh eval, and nutritionist, What's left?

Will I be able to schedule a date with dr for surgery? Any more tests?

All you have left to do now is schedule your surgery, attend your preop appointment and one last set of blood work. Unless they do you like me and require a sleep study - but isn't going to delay my procedure. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday...time really flies!!!

My advice is to make sure you are prepared for the pre-op diet in your mind. Most of the people on here have had a 2 week "liver shrinking" diet..or "detox" diet.

You will have all the other things mentioned above, pre-op testing, etc.

Congratulations! It was a long haul for me to get my approval, I cried when I finally got it! I am 6 weeks out from having my surgery, I have lost 50lbs! It IS exciting!! What a life change.

Good luck and God bless

Wow, you are doing great! I hope I get approved soon. I am in the first week of waiting for approval. I have a question, has anyone used a "belly" band after surgery? It holds stomach with a bit of support, and I know women use them after having a baby or hysterectomy, so I was thinking it might help on this type of surgery, especially with port incision. Any thoughts?

I heard someone else on this site talk about how it bothered her that her stomach was getting flabby and it hurt her incisions when she turned in bed. I believe someone else said to try the stomach support.

Personally, I felt like I didn't even want the elastic from my sweat pants confining my stomach, especially around the port incision.

I don't think it would hurt to try!

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
