Hello everyone, I am New

Recommended Posts

Hi I went to my informational meeting in Crosby, MN. on October 6th, 2003. The Dr.'s said if you are serious about this you need to get on the Atkins and lose some weight before your approval. On October 7th I started Atkins. I had surgery on 2/3/04 in Crosby, MN with Dr. McCollister ( he is very good). Before surgery I lost 40 #"S and since another 20#"s. I am very pleased with the weight lose, although if I look at myself I can't see it as much. I think I still look the same. :Bunny :rambo Go figure! I have my first fill tomorrow, I am looking forward to it. Tammy

WELCOME TAMMY!!!

I know exactly what you are saying!!! I guess since we see ourselves everyday, it's hard to see the pounds that we've shed.

Congratulations on you 60 pounds that is awesome......That is a lot of weight....that's 12 5 pound bags of sugar!!!!!!!!!;)

Congrats on your weightloss pre and after surgery. My doc probably wouldn't have approved lapband if I had lost 40 pounds before surgery he was skeptical to refer me to my Lapband doctor, and although for the most part I am happy with my band, I dont know if I would have gotten had i been able to lose that amount of weight before banding, for me it was health issues that drove me to the band. I hope I don't sound like a downer lol

It is great that you got a good healthy life style before the band, that is something I am still trying to learn after 7 months

Welcome!!!!!!!!

I am the same way, i never see the weight that i have lost in the mirror but you should take pictures at the same place and at the same distance every other month or so. That is the only way i can tell anything, besides my clothes!!

Oh yeah congrats!!!

Hi Tammy,

Welcome, and congratulations on doing so well!

I agree it is definitely hard sometimes to see a difference in ourselves. But soon you'll start to see some of those NSVs we talk about--your rings will fit differently, a piece of clothing will fall off of you--and you'll realize it really is REAL!

Here's to more of the same!! ;)

Hi Tammy,

I'm new around town too and haven't been banded YET... Just wanted to welcome you like others have welcomed me and congratulate you on your weight loss... soon the mirror will reflect your loss as well as the scale. (:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
