Just frustrated!

Recommended Posts

So frustrated right now. I was banded in May 2011. My insurance at the time covered the surgery, dr's visits, and my fills. Well....Ive since relocated and my new health insurance covers NOTHING!! Ive been having serious issues with acid reflux lately and know i should make an appointment but the thought of a 200 dollar office visit just makes me sick to my stomach. Just needed to vent :)

I would think that unless you need a fill or infill, your primary would be the one to see you to diagnose and treat your symptoms of acid reflux.

i agree with making a dr's appt with your pcp.. however you can get over the counter zantac , even the genaric, and it should help

I am so sorry about your insurance! However, I disagree with seeing PCP for reflux ir just taking Otcmeds. The band could be too tight and your PCP may not be good with bands. You can get a PCP to make adjustments and they also can be done in ER by those not familiar enough with the equipment, resulting in major problems with band that could lead to removal. I'm really sorry but I think psuing the $200 is your best bet. Better for your health and possibly better for your bank account. Keep me posted!

If it is because you need an adjustment, hopefully you can shop around. Depending on where you are, look around for other gastric docs that may have lower rates for office visits. I was a cash patient and after my year of after care runs out they charge $75 for adjustments.

If the acid reflex has just recently started its from the band and RW is right on the WLS will be able to help you saftly its worth the $200 and they should be able to put yu on time payment. I am a self pay now also...complication cost me $1500 which I still owe.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
