when can I get back to work

Recommended Posts

Hey Stept04 I had my surgery yest too. How u doing?? I don't feel bad really. I did have some beef broth earlier and I loved it. I'm supposed to be working on 60 oz of fluids. I've got just about 16 oz down. I just feel bloated.

I feel real bloated too. It's all I can do to get down my 4 Protein drinks and some broth, it might be 40 oz. Other than that I'm doing OK, not in to much pain mostly sore. Hurts most at the port site. Hope you'll do OK with your recovery.

Stephanie

I'm a hairdresser so I'm up moving all day long I took a total of 8 days. I was ready to go back then. After 3 days I would have died. For some reason for me on day 5 I was ready to get out so I went shopping but was still moving slow. By the time I went back I was feeling awesome! Everyone is different!

I went back to work nine days post op. I made it till two o'clock and then went home. I was weak or tired, I just couldn't sit any longer. It hurt my port site. It put to much tension on it. I am going back tomorrow and try to move around more.

I have a desk job, and I took 2 weeks as recommended by my surgeon. I'm so glad I did, because I had a lot of discomfort at the port incision for a while after surgery. I was also pretty tired. Of course, as others have said, everyone is different.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
