Pain below my port site

I am having a sharp pain about 3 inches below where my port is. I had my surgery 4/3/13. The pain gets crazy if I twist or lay the wrong way. It almost feels like there is something poking me from the inside out. Any suggestions what this could be?

I was banded on 4/16 and I had the EXACT same concern. I asked my Dr at my 1-week and she said that is totally normal. It doesn't hurt to ask your own Dr to be sure, but mine said that the whole muscle that runs up & down through your abdomen will be sore due to the port being stitched to the muscle. It can cause your muscle to spasm because it doesn't "like" having the port stitched there. My Dr said the discomfort will subside over time and your muscle will stop "resisting" the port. Again, everyone is different, so you probably want to mention this at your next appointment, but I think it's a normal part of the healing process.

Thanks icebergslim I think I will check with my doctor as well but I'm happy someone else has felt this same pain(well not happy because of your pain:-/) someone had wrote that maybe one of the interior staples hasn't dissolved yet and could have come loose and was poking you? It's a horrible pain much worse than the recovery part itself...thanks for the input and best of luck to you:-))
