Do you count calories or just watch what you eat?

One if the biggest habit changes I've also adopted is visualizing the size portion and not eating any more than a tightened fist. Getting wait staff to take away any left overs ASAP also helps avoid overeating

I have become obsessed with counting on MFP. I also take my logs with me to the doctor so they can review them and offer suggestions on how I could do better. Makes me feel more accountable for my actions. :)

Neither. I don't diet, count or keep track of anything. I have such great restriction that it doesn't matter what I eat because I can only eat about 4 bites and then I'm done. And food doesn't have the appeal it use to, so it's easy for me to resist if I need to. You should get a fill if you're still struggling

Sticking to three meals a day, eating only until satisfied, eating mostly healthy food keeps me to 1200 thereabouts. I just watch what I eat. I do snack and have extras now because I don't need to lose any more. In that, I do keep in mind the calorie count of those extras becuase thy add up and I like to stay below 1800. But for me, near enough has always been good enough.

I like to use MFP not so much to count the calories but to see the summary and that I'm getting a good amount of Protein (more importantly) as well as other nutrients. I am between 900 to 1200 a day. It's a good log of what you eat daily to and so easy to use with loads of support from friends you make xx

Same here...I rely upon the band to control how much I eat...it's up to me to make the wise food choices, which is not rocket science....and yes, food does not have that appeal to me anymore, and that I believe is all part of the band taking away my hunger 24/7....

I do pay attention to my Protein intake...no longer count that either..I have a good feel for it now, knowing what I have consumed throughout the day....

Like the Green Zone says...NO Hunger, and GOOD Portion Control, = steady weight loss and patient satisfaction....does not get any better than that!

However, IMO, if you're just starting out..you have no other choice but to count calories and measure portions....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
