My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet

Recommended Posts

This is going to be long' date=' so I'll post it over on my journey, except to answer your questions. Telling my husband was a major thing for me. He said that he figured it out. Not surprised, and yes, he still loves me. He's in it for the long haul. Thirty years in June. I do have a lot of support. My children, husband, and believe it or not, my father. lol

I hope to keep in contact with you. You seem like a lifeline kind of person. Very helpful, nice and forthcoming. I need that sharing through this. Thanks. :-)

I just posted on your thread. I hope to keep in contact with you too. I can be a support buddy and tell you all my mistakes so hopefully you can learn from some of mine. Also all my ups to keep you motivated. Your so welcome, just glad to help in whatever way I can.

I know how you feel. My husband and kids had all kinds of goodies and it was hard not to eat them. At first I would crave them so bad, but then the desire just went away. Your welcome. I'm here if you have any questions or just want to vent or talk. Congrats on starting your new journey!!!

Today I just did shakes and a sugar free pudding. I had gained weight from eating stuff I shouldn't have and now it has been up to me to get back on track and so I have without any help from the dietician who still never called me back. I had to stop and think about why I got this surgery and eating the same way I was is not the plan for me to lose weight. I'm back on my treadmill and taking walks with my kids. I lost my focus, but found it again in all of you. I will weigh in tomorrow to see how much I weigh. I can do this!!!

Haven't heard from you? Are you ok? As for me doing ok. Vitamin Water zero for me tastes bad now too sweet and I hate the aftertaste. No more of those for me crystal light works better but I put half packet only on a 16 oz bottle or 1 packet on my 32 oz bottle.im ok with the broth. Anyways looking forward to June 14th for my progression to full liquid diet. I get to change tastes.

Hello. How have you been? How is the liquid diet going? We are going on June so soon you will get to progress your diet. I'm excited for you. I know all liquids can be hard, but you have been doing an awesome job!!! Hope all is well with you.

I cannot imagine the willpower it took for you to not eat that stuff. I'm lucky that hubby isn't a snacker and that I do all the shopping.

Hang in there. Take each day as it comes. I think you have an excellent perception of the whole thing and its good you can look at it that way.

. I have been ok. And yes still on Clear Liquids diet. Very excited on the 14th I get to progress to full liquid diet and get my first fill. I has been hard working in the deli and bakery but I'm proud of my self haven't cheated . To scared to do so. I hope you get on track again .always bet on you. Yes you can.. I paid to much for this surgery to give up. Remember the band is a tool and it will work if you use it the right way. Remember your kids need you healthy. Be positive. Yes you can.

It was hard. I do all the shopping to, but I was extreme couponing and had built up a stock pile of all kinds of goodies. Now I have stopped couponing since we are moving next month and we don't really have anything bad in our house. That's good your husband is not a snacker, mine is :(

Thanks for checking in!!! Just want to say your so awesome Linda!!!

So I weighed myself on the 31st and I weighed in at 254, I was sad, but happy at the same time. I had gained weight and went up to 259 and wanted to cry. So being at 254 is better than 259. I plan on to keep working on my diet and walking. I'm still waiting for my fill and hope that helps me. I will get down to my 240's if it takes all the strength I have. I love taking my dog for walks and when we move I want to get another dog so I can keep walking. I still use my treadmill, but I feel so much better when I take a walk outside. I can't wait to be able to run on my treadmill again just waiting on the docs approval. When we move I plan on going to the mountains where my mom lives and go hiking and during the winter I like to snowboard. I also want to try to do volunteer work to keep myself busy and moving. I miss my family and I'm so glad we are going to be closer to them and can have their support. I still love all the support I get from all of you and will continue to keep posting. I know I might miss a few days, but I still come back and post. I have been so busy with my kids, getting ready to move, and school.

I will post all about my fill. I hope it's not to painful. Wow 27 pounds, congrats!!! I'm not sure if I still have sleep apnea and I don't know how my cholesterol is. Guess I will have that all checked out when I move. So happy for you.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
