Hi guys!

I'll reach my first month of banded in a couple of days, in 3 days i'll start to introduce solid (but soft) foods, and i was thinking about starting a diet to give a boost in my weight loss. I'm planning a cancun vacation with hubby in 2.5months, and i really want to be out of the 200lb house! I know is only a dream, and almost impossible lol but i would love to shred as much as possible.

Am i crazy? Lol is too early for that?

I only had this idea, as my new stage diet is mostly lean Protein, soft vegies, soft/cooked fruit, and so is the first stage of the diet in the book, and by the time the book stage changes, i'll be also ok to go to grain, etc in my lapband diet!

So? Thoughts? Lol

you have a lap band (to help you eat less), why start a diet? just eat your allotted portions (is it 1 cup for you?) and make healthy choices and lose weight that way....

Sure, no harm in starting a diet. But losing 40+ lbs in 2.5 months may be a little too unrealistic?

You can always diet with the band. But to use the band as it's intended and to learn how to live with and utilize it's magic, eating diet food may not be the best approach. Almost all of us are on a diet, a diet of healthy foods. This diet allows us to naturally eat fewer bad foods.

Nooo, not 40+!

I'm at 227lb now! So, 27 lb would be good lol

Your profile said 240 so that's the figure I used.

It's very hard to lose more than 8 lbs a month. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 lb. If your amount of calories to maintain is 1700 and you eat 1000 and burn off 300 more in exercise, you will be burning off 1000 calories per day more than you consume. So, 1000 X 30 = 30,000/3500 = 8.5 lbs lost.

Good luck and don't forget the exercise!

Oh, i forgot to change there ;) will do that tonight!

I'm going to try and see how it goes. The worse it could happen is not loosing all the weight i expect right? Lol

And YES! Im doing lots of walk (as i cant fully exercise until week 6).. I'm also doing drainage lymphatic massage 3x a week, that helps with inches and helps in not retaining Water :)

The Diet as you describe it sounds a lot like Atkins or South Beach, either one of which is lap band friendly. Just pay extra attention to portion sizes as most diets do lot limit these as much as may be needed for the band. Eat small bites, chew thoroughly and avoid white carbs. You should lose just as much weight just following lap band post surgery diet rules. If you need recipes, many can be be found on this site.

Yes, its very similar to those!

Last time i did, i lost about 20lb in 40days, but of course- gained back after lol

So, hopefully the band will help me not gain back lol

I'll start thursday :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
