Hey fellow April 10th surgery pals! I'm scheduled for 11am (10hrs and counting!) and stuck awake not bc I'm nervous but because I can't decide what to wear to the hospital!

Hope my 4/10 surgery buddies have safe surgeries...definitely check in tomorrow when you're feeling up to it! So excited this step of the journey is finally here!

Not quite the same but as there aren't many in my position I hope you guys don't mind me joining you. I'm getting a band replacement on the 27th April, so will be going through what you guys will be going through, plus some. I could use some hand holding too! And offer holding of others' hands. :)

I don't have to do a liquid diet until 3 days beforehand due to my different circumstances but I did it when I got my band the first time around, so can empathise.

Good luck to you! May I ask why you're having a replacement band? I had to be on preop diet for two weeks which wasn't too bad! My surgery is tomorrow I am getting very nervous but still a little excited! It seems like the days flew by for this day... a month ago I couldn't wait and seemed like forever now it's tomorrow lol! Again good luck to you!! :)

My band is leaking. I've had two ops to resolve it (port replacements) but it's still leaking so it's a full replacement next.

How do you know when it's leaking?

I was in the green zone for 3 years, easily maintaining my weight. I'd get the odd 'maintenance' fill annually to keep me well restricted but didn't really have to do anything else.

Then in Jan 2012, I lost all restriction. So went for a fill and after a week I lost restriction again. Next checkup, they withdrew all the Fluid and discovered I'd lost half of what should have been in my band. So there was definitely a leak. I did get tests to eliminate the possibility of a slip and erosion as well and in every other respect, my band is perfectly placed. Just leaking.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
