My surgery is March 27, and I have been on a liquid diet almost 2 weeks. The first week I ate the noodles and veggies in my Soups, but mainly just had my Protein Drinks and soups. This week it is all liquids. I can have broth and creamy soups, popsicles, jello.. I understand the diet is to shrink your liver, but this week I have not lost anything( last week I lost 6lbs). I drink at least 90oz of Water, get 3 Protein drinks in a day, and have broth. I'm afraid my body is in starvation mode, so my weight loss is stopping all together.. Has anyone else had this issue? Again I completely understand the diet is for liver shrinking not for weightloss, but I know most people lose weight too..

I have a similar question. .I dont have date set yet but should be able to set it next week. I'm wondering if you lose too much weight will they still do the surgery? If I lose 4lbs I'm no longer qualified for surgery

And how many calories do you eat during your pre op diet that may have to do with it. I eat 1200 calories regularly before surgery.

I had the same results preop I am 7 days out an lost alot the first several days an now have stopped loosing so this must be normal I also am on 1 meal a day an 2 Protein Shakes only have to do all liquid 48hrs before my surgery April 2nd. I ask the same question what if I loose to much before my surgery? the reply was " If insurance is paying for the hernia repair your bmi an weight are no longer counted for" I am unsure if you are self pay what would happen but surely they will take your preop consult visit weight .... Hope this helped some Im not an expert just giving what I have done an been told so far on my end :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
