Hi everyone. I just got rebanded march 1st. I didn't get my 1st fill yet. But i am really curious. Does everyone really get full by just one cup of food? I don't have nothing in my band yet and I am still on mushy food but 1cup is just so little! I eat a regular portion size and if i feel hungry i wait till my next meal.

The cup of food is much easier to stick to when your back on solids.. I could have eaten out the house on mushies! I was soo hungry..

Yep I can vouch for that. One cup will do the trick. Now keep in mind that most of that cup needs to be Protein. :)

Same here, 1 cup fills me up, just had dinner of fish and veggies, equivalent to about a cup and I'm good :)

If you want to lose weight before you have restriction you need to watch your portions and calories. Once you have restriction a cup of food should fill you up. But for each meal three times per day I used the following formula every day for 22 months and lost all my weight....3 oz protien, 1/2 c veggies, 1/4 c starch

that's the same formula I use as well Floridays. then I plug it all into the myfitness pal ap just to make sure I'm in the 1.000 calorie neighborhood. so far, it's working for me.

I was on the same calorie amount....worked like a charm. ;)

1 cup and count all my calories. Only been banded about 3 months but as I read & read on this board this seemed to be the method of the successful people so I'm trying to following in their shoes.

I was skeptical too but a little over 2 weeks post op and if I eat when I first realize I'm hungry I can't even finish 1/3rd of a cup before I start to feel full as long as I'm eating slowly.

Just a question, how soon after surgery did you move from 1/2 cup up to 1 cup?

I never eat more then a half cup at meals. When I see a cup of food it looks huge!!! Also you should be satisfied not full. It takes a while to learn what satisfied feels like so it is very important to measure your food to know when to stop.

My doctor wasn't sure what I was talking about when i asked about the one cup limit. He was more concerned with getting maximum Protein and keep my carbs and sugars low. I have been very fortunate where I have not been stuck or any side effects. I am at 3.8 of a 15 band.

We dont use cups in the UK to measure our food, it was more sticking to calories (1000 to 1200 daily) and just 'small meals' but if i was to measure in cups i would eat maybe 3 oz protien plus a cup of green veg, and that is always after a tin of WW tomatoe Soup to help fill me up first, works a treat and continues to work for me, i dont eat root veg much at all so the green veg is a filler with very little calories but plenty of nutrients.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
