Anyone get their band at True Results in Dallas, TX? Surgery Center of Richardson

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into traveling from MO to Dallas, TX for my lap band surgery. I am self pay and the cost is almost half what they want where I live! Crazy! Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback anyone has regarding this facility!

Thanks!

I went to True Results in Austin. I recommend True Results without question. My surgeon was great, but even better is the after care that True Results give. I was self pay, too.

They have everything you need, nutritionist, counselling, great nurse practitioners and x-ray on site.

You are in good hands.

Will you be travelling to Dallas for your aftercare, too?

Thank you for your input!! It makes me feel better hearing from people who know! Congrats on all your loss...you look FABULOUS! :) I am sooo excited! I am not sure if I will go to Dallas for after care. I was planning on spending $18k locally and finding it for under 10k with about a 7 hour drive or 1 hour flight has definitely changed my plans. I think that I will plan to go to Dallas for aftercare but if I need to see someone before I can make it down there then I will see the doc here for $250....still saving a TON of money! :)

Can you tell me about aftercare? Like do you need spontaneous care or are they visits that can be scheduled weeks in advance?

You can & should schedule appointments in advance. When I went to my first post op appointment I scheduled my next 3 appointments.

I go every 4 weeks (still). I don't always get a fill, but I check in. Once you are in the Green zone it will be your choice how often you go. For me the appointments kept me on track.

The 10k includes a year of after care, so you can go as often as you want. Once the year is up you can pay for 6 months at a time $240 ($40 per month). Again go as often as you want. Definately a good deal.

AWESOME!!! That is definitely doable!! So how long did it take you to find your green zone and how long did it take you to hit your goal weight? I know everyone is different but I also feel like (from everything I have read) the band is a tool and if you use it properly it WILL work. I am sooo ready to lose this weight for life and know that I will always have this tool to help me!

The band is a wonderful tool and it will help you if you do your part.

I found the green zone after about 6 months (20 lbs from goal). I reached my doctors goal at 10 months & my goal at a year.

But, I like my band on the looser side. You will read about people who want gheir band tight. Not me. I can eat any foods and very rearly get stuck. I have had small unfill because I felt too tight and couldn't eat like I wanted.

You will need to figure out what works for you. Follow the doctors orders & diets, meet with the nutritionist and follow the 8 golden rules. You will be successful.

Plus, hang out here. I've made some great friends here who have supported me every step of the way.

True results is who i went thru! I was banded jan 25th and love the staff (in austin) but ive heard positive reviews about true results all over the place.

Im just concerned about after care for you. They want u to come in every two weeks if possible for fills and checkups. I dont see how you would so it?

If you figure out a way to get banded at true results and after care where u are then go for it! Everything ive read says aftercare is probably the moat important part bc it keeps you accountable

I went through True Results in Richardson. My surgery was on Jan 25th and I've been really happy with them! I too was self pay and have not regretted this decision. My aftercare appointments are once every 3 weeks. I've lost about 30 lbs in 2 months so I'm very happy! My doctor is Dr. Marsden.

Txmama, I just scheduled my surgery with Dr Marsden for April 5th! So happy to find someone who is a recent patient of his!! Congrats on your success!! Is that 30 pounds since surgery or since the start of the preop diet?

I too went through True Results (Austin), and will confirm like others, after care appts were every two weeks. Although I'm a newbie, I've had no complaints, staff have been great!

Also, I can say being a frequent visitor on this site has helped. I'm only on my 2nd fill and nowhere near my green zone, but being on here keeps my goal alive.

I track what I eat on MyFitnessPal and I think that has also helped.

Good luck!

Awesome! Dr. Marsden is great. I started the preop diet Jan 11th and have lost the 30 lbs since then. I lost a lot on the preop diet and am scheduled for another fill a week from Friday. I'm not in the green zone yet but I can feel a major difference in my health and the way that clothes fit.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
