I'm so disappointed the lapband won't work on me? Is it Possible that some wont work on others as in ME??

This is day 13 post-op for me. I have 4 - 6 small meals each day. From the beginning, I tried to make sure I never went over one cup. So far, that has worked for me. I haven't had a fill and don't anticipate having one until next month. i think the lapband works. I just think it takes a lot of work on your own until you hit the green zone.

I had my surgery close to yours (Feb 21st) and feel for you!! I am not sure if you had any Fluid put in your band at the time of surgery or not? Even if you did, it is a very minimal amount, so you cant' expect the band to be working right now. I am in the same boat as you and can eat a lot more if I let myself as sticking to the one cup of food has left me starving for more, but right now, we are in what the veterans call "bandster hell" which is that period of time between when we have our lap band put in, and when we start to get out fills bringing us to our "sweet spot" so unfortunately is going to have to be all about willpower for us until then. Try hard to stick to the one cup rule so you don't stretch out your pouch or slip your band. Maybe give your clinic a call and speak to the dietitian or nurse to see if they have any suggestions to get you through this difficult time.

You need to weigh/measure portions. Just cause you can eat more doesn't mean you should. That's why this period us called bandster hell.

I'm wondering the same thing. Some people seem to be restricted and others not. If you aren't restricted, is it okay to eat until you get your first fill? I need to remember to ask my surgeon.

I'll bet after your first fill you will feel differently about things. Wonder if they can do it sooner with you? Seems like torture to have no restriction and be on a liquid diet at the same time. Bad enough doing that for two weeks pre-op.

I got my band Feb 20 and am also unrestricted. However, I never eat more than a cup at a time and have been following the post op diet progression (1 week of Clear Liquids, then full, then purée, then mechanical soft, then solids). I've lost 21 pounds so far.

I don't get my first fill until April 11. The doctor told me that manufacturers don't allow them to put anything in the bands until at least 6 weeks post op.

Remember that this is more of a healing period than a weight loss period, but still use your better judgment and pay attention to your body- stop when you feel SATISFIED before you get really full

I haven't eating any thing bad, and I'm scared to be honest, no red meat , I do eat tuna, and Pasta but have not tried bread or crackers or colas, just juice and Water, I was just saying that I got scared cus one cup does not fill me up, I called Dr. Today and I get my first fill on 27 of this month, thank god he dose it after one month of Surgery, I did not know they don't put nothing in it at surgery, sorry guess I was not paying attention , I was to excited it took 9 months for Insurance to Accept my surgery, and had to leave my city for the surgery so much was on my mind and a lot of money was needed :(

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
