About to pay the deposit but...

Recommended Posts

About to pay the deposit but I'm so nervous and my leg won't stop shaking. I'm petrified of failing or being one of those bandsters that don't lose.

Am I making the right decision?

30 y/o 5"6 240lbs with 100lbs to lose.

either not pay the deposit and remain where you are or get bigger

or pay the deposit, follow your doctors instructions and get well.

seems like an easy answer to me.

I am one of those bandsters who is a very slow loser and not at restriction after 6 months. Regrets - not at all. In 6 months I have never once gained a pound, just losing very slow.

wildrose - 33lbs is still great! were those pre-op or post-op pounds? Is your lack of "Restriction" because you are not tight enough?

Also beware it will take time to get to "restriction". Seems like for lots of people its around the 3rd fill, was for me, and I have read that in many posts. That puts you at about 4 months post op. Until then you are in what is affectionatly called "bandster hell". The time between surgery and when your fills give you restricion. During that time it's like you don't have a band at all.

So Bandster's Hell is just the period you are still hungry until you find your sweet spot? By the sounds of it, I thought it was "hell" as in complications, slipping, or gagging.

I am the bandster that didn't lose (for long). Well, I lost 70 lbs at first but then I stopped following the rules and found ways to cheat the band. I gained it all back. I am starting my journey over. You can do it! Stay focused. Best of luck.

How did you manage that?? Glad you're back!!

With all due respect, I don't think it's as "easy" as you make it out to be.

That would be DOUBLE HELL! :D

If it's that difficult you may not be ready. I know I tried every diet and failed at all of them and failed several times for each one. I gave up on diets. Maybe you should try another diet?

For me it was easy. I knew I would never lose weight long term any other way and I was willing to take the gamble. Not much of a gamble when every other method failed. It was try this lapband thing since so many people have succeeded(my neighbor, my wife's co-worker)with. Why not me.?

So, go on another diet where 95% fail?

Don't go on a diet and remain where you are?

Take a shot at a 80% sure thing and get healthy?

Easy choice I believe?

Failure would be not doing it. The Lap band is not another diet. It is a tool to be used with the proper food choices. Your mindset must change in order for you to be successful. I was banded on 4/3/12. So far, I have lost a total of 65lbs. 26lbs during my pre banded waiting period and 39lbs since being banded. I should of lost more then 39lbs but I started cheating. But now, I am back on track. If I don't loss another pound, I am forever grateful for any weight lost. I COULD NOT lost 65lbs on my own. I have lost 6 pants sizes, have more energy, less body aches and feel GREAT! It was worth every penny. My only regret was not doing it sooner. Please do not let fear keep you from trying.

it was easier for me to be over 300+ and just keep getting bigger..its easier for me to eat junk food...i could either decide to seek help or eat or be cut out of my house one day. the lap band is not easy and its not overly hard...if you use it properly, you will be successful...so yes, it is and it was easy for me..

If you fail or don't lose at least you tried something!!!!

You need to get your head focused on why you chose lap band to begin with.

Wow...well put and I agree!

I feel the same way. I felt either I'd keep getting fatter and die before seeing my kids grow up or I do something about it. And the truth is, while I do have to work with my band it's a heck of a lot easier to be a bandster than it was to be a dangerously fat person.

Thanks Terry. You are always a source of reason.

Like I said above, my concern stems from the fact that I have, like many, failed on all other diets. Isn't this why we are all here? That's my biggest fear!

We all have or had that same fear, I chose to look at lapband as my final out of the yoyo diets and failures. When I picked my name for this site it was so far from the truth, I was so far from loving myself. I am one that believes in positive affrimations and as silly as they may seem to some, I posted these affrimations around my house for the past 2 year. i became my own cheerleader, I was not going to fail, no way. This was the one time I would succeed and so can you, "Yes U Can! The power of positive thinking can take you a long way, so shake those negative vibs and take control of your life. You will love your self if you do... Good luck to you!

I wish that people would put this much thought into having children! LOL! For some reason no one worries about failing, how much money it costs, or how it will effect their lives and lifestyle. Put it into perspective and go for it! Have more faith in yourself! Life is to short!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
