I have the same problem with yogurt, especially greek yogurt. When I was first banded I ate it and didn't have any trouble but now that I have restriction it gets stuck. Its strange because I can eat most things as long as I'm careful and it's later in the day but not yogurt! Bums me out cause I love it!

Hi leaveme....that's too crazy! I guess

The Cereal aids the yogurt since its heavier?

I think it just breaks up the dense consistency. Right now, I'm not supposed to eat fiberous foods, but can't eat the yogurt without the kashi, so I just do it anyway. I get a lot of my Calcium from the yogurt, at my age that's important, lol. I find that if I try to eat 1/2 cup of kashi with milk, it's problematic as well. A year ago, plain yogurt or the cereal alone was no problem. Then my band had 3.5 cc, now 0 cc. Go figure!

Speaking as a purely amateur chemist with a zany theory. I would suspect the issue with yogurt is how it's consistency is affected by your stomach's unique digestive bath. Even though pudding is the same consistency as yogurt outside your body it's Protein chains are much different pudding liquifies almost instantly in your stomach where as yogurt stays thick longer if you have weaker stomach acid that thicker yogurt might as well be a lump of glue that not only resists passing the band but also stops the natural exchange of fluids through the band. Adding kashi or blending the yogurt keeps the yogurt from lumping together so it breaks down more easily for some but possibly still not enough for everyone.

Like I said pure hypothesis.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
