The past few evenings I've been having this uncomfortable feeling in my chest and upper back and I'm not sure if these pains are what you feel when you are "stuck". It seems they come on about an hour after eating dinner and subside a few hours later.

A little background on me...I'm 4 months post op and have had only 1 fill about 6 weeks ago. I have never experienced a stuck episode, vomiting, or PB. My doctors are ecstatic with my progress because I have been following the program and the rules so carefully. Typically, i cook dinner at home and follow the 3oz Protein and the rest veggies. I don't cook potatoes or rice with dinner...not because I can't tolerate them, but because I don't trust myself around them!

This weekend happened to be full of different celebrations and I found myself eating out the past 4 nights. Tonight my husband and I went to Chili's for dinner and I started the meal with 3 or 4 tortilla chips with salsa. Not the best choice, but I made a point to limit the intake to a minimum. I then ordered chicken fajitas without any tortillas. I ate only 3 strips of the chicken breast (couldn't have been more than 2oz and it was very moist), a few bites of onions and peppers, and about a tablespoon of guacamole. I was satisfied...I stopped eating. Last night was a fancy Italian place...ate a piece of fresh mozzarella, a piece of roasted red pepper, a sliver of focaccia bread, and about 3 spoonfuls of my white bean Soup. I'm just wondering, both nights I came home and felt tightness in my chest and discomfort in my upper back. Is this the feeling of a stuck episode??? Since I've never had any symptoms of discomfort from the start I just don't know what this is, although I'm sure it's not uncommon. Thank you for your feedback!

Be careful. That feeling is the feeling of overdoing it. Possibly stuck but mostly just to much or something that doesn't agree with your body.

To me that feels like I've eaten too much. If I eat too much I feel like it's 'sitting' above my band for ages and my back hurts.

Being stuck is different (for me anyway). I can't mistake what a 'stuck' episode feels like. For me, it hurts in my chest a LOT, I start producing a lot of saliva and I start feeling like I'm struggling to keep whatever it is down. And it usually comes back up because it's easier than trying to keep it all down.

I am only 6 weeks with my band. When I first started regular food that was not mushy I think I just ate too quickly. I would then feel exactly what you are describing. I knew I had not over eaten so I started to slow way down. I also have really tried to pay attention to what my body feels like when I eat and find that I take a deep breath when I am full. I then stop. It is really hard for me to stop because I feel like I just got started...and it is so good. I just have to keep telling myself I can have more later if I want it. Another thing. I have began just taking a little of my husbands food instead of ordering a plate of my own. This keeps things real for me and if he is really hungry we order an appetizer with it to be brought out at the same time. It is a real learning experience for sure. I wish you lots of luck. Another thing when I first began to eat solid food I ate gas x like crazy. Now it does not get that bad.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
