For those of you who drink or want to drink coffee

Lets think about this carbonation "myth". If you're drinking a liquid that happens to be carbonated it should pass through the band into your lower stomach where there should be room for the bubbles to dissipate. If your band is tight, it might take longer to pass through and make you uncomfortable for a few minutes. That said, you can burp and relieve the pressure. This is the way my doctor explained it to me...it's more about comfort than the danger of eroding your band by causing excess pressure on the stomach. This was based on drinking one carbonated drink, not a six pack.

My nutritionist told me to open the bottle, pour into a glass and let it sit for a few minutes to allow some carbonation to escape, but again, she stressed that its more for comfort than safety.

I have a favorite sparking wine I drink on occasion and I drink Perrier from time to time. Haven't had any issues with either. I also drink diet ginger ale or 7-up in a mixed drink occasionally.

I think we have to remember that we're all adults and able to make informed decisions without getting so wrapped up in the "rules". Caffeine, carbonation, sugar, carbs etc are all things that should be consumed in moderation, WLS or no WLS.

Just my .02 :)

Like I said earlier, each to their own. I never did low carbs, never did calorie counting, never once had a Protein shake to supplement my diet so I am all for people taking responsibility for what goes into their mouths.

If someone asks me a question, I give them my opinion and what they do with it is up to them. That people are here talking about their experience is a generous thing, and I think we forget that. But one thing I've learnt as a long-time bander is that only you can decide how you want to live your life long term. I don't get offended if someone disagrees with me, why would I? I'm not invested in anyone else's success but my own.

Live and let live, I say! No one needs to defend their choices to anyone else. This place is ideally about getting information about things you're not sure of, but there will be conflicting advice and in the end, you decide which you will follow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
