Is this how the band feels?

Recommended Posts

Im only 3 weeks out or so but i get this weird hunger but im done eating feeling. Is that how it works?

This sounds weird prob but its like when im done eating my meal. my bottom stomach is hungry and empty but i get that weird burp ( i assume telling me im done) and ive gotten stuck for a second before at that moment so i stop eating.

But does anyone know what im talking about? Am i doing something wrong? Eating to fast or something? I dunno what this is. Lol is this how the band works?

That sounds like my experience (I am three months out). I'm still working on translating my stomach's new signals. I agree that "lap-band full" does not feel like "full-full."

Burping is one of the signals that you've had enough food. If you're getting stuck you're probably not eating small enough bites or not chewing enough? I assume you're eating solids?

When I eat I feel full but not "stuffed"... I usually eat just over a cup of food.

It sounds like you need to chew just a bit longer.

I take bites the size of my baby finger nail and chew a few times and make sure I finish what I have in my mouth before I take my second or third bite.

Thanks for the advice

Shortly after i eat. Even as soon as i stop eating im still hungry. It feels like the lower stomach is empty. Is that normal?

I think that being only three weeks out you still haven't had your first fill and therefore you have very little or no restriction yet. I think it is normal to be hungry during this period but the good thing is that it will get easier as you get your fills. Good luck and hang in there.

Most people cannot feel their stomachs. You're most likely in "bandster hell" and will be till you get that fill that gives you enough restriction to feel satisfied.

Hiccups, burping, shoulder pain are all signs you are full. Unfortunately the bottom of your stomach will always be there and has to learn it is no longer going to get large amounts of food. You might still feel hungry but as you lose and your stomach shrinks it will catch up to your band and you will stop feeling like that.

Hi Blondie, your doing fine this is all normal. I was banded on Dec 17. Just chew, chew, chew and eat slowly, when you feel full stop eating. When I have a stuck episode it starts with heartburn then sliming and then sometimes throwing up. I hope I have helped... Barry

Everything you are feeling is normal. You are definitely in bandster hell. It is ugly but bearable. When you get your first fill you will see a difference. Right after surgery you have much restriction all due to swelling, but within a few weeks the swelling goes and you feel like you can eat much more and swallow without chewing so much. You might even complain that the scale doesn't move and maybe gain a few pounds, but when you get your first fill you will start to lose quickly again. I got my first 3 ml fill Monday and I have lose 5 pounds since then. It does get better! Hang on!

I am about in the same time frame you are in. I am also trying to figure this out. I have been worrying that I have done something wrong and wrecked the banding some how, because I can eat more than I thought I would be able to. I eat it and feel fine then my stomach starts to hurt. I don't feel full. I know I eat too fast and I should chew more. Thank you for yor post. All the replays helped me too.

Cuban chick that is EXACTLY whats going on!!!! U explained it word for word. I have gained 3 lbs but haven't posted it on here bc im so embarrassed. I can basically eat anything right now. And you called it bc for a few days right after surgery i was never ever hungry. Now im hungry all the time. I know i should be chewing my food more but i forget some bites and it still seems to go down fine.

Thank you so much for posting that! U literally described what im going thru exactly thank u!!

Don't be so sure? It took me 4 fills to start to lose weight and I've seen many more that took more than that. One fill did nada for me. IF, she's lucky, one fill may give her some restriction but there is no certainty of this.

I know exactly what you mean. I get full and then like a half an hour later my lower stomach feels "hungry." It doesn't make sense but I am learning that is how it feels but it is not a signal that I need to eat. I wonder if it is just the tummy juices churning as the food hits the bottom?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
