I had my surgery on November 26, 2012. I have lost 34 lbs so far and I can tell I have lost weight every where but my Tummy area. Is this still swelling from the surgery? My husband even commented on how much smaller I was everywhere but, my abdomen. It is my whole abdomen, not just the lower belly. Anyone else have this problem?

I was banded on 12/31/13. I went for my first fill on 1/31. I've lost 21 pounds and feel so much better, but I look like I swollowed a softball in my upper abdomen! My doc says there is still swelling and it will eventually go down.....I sure hope so!

Unfortunately your stomach is the last to go. You lose weight from the top down. If you have always had a big belly and Im not saying that you do, it will probably be the last thing to go on you.

Is your abdomen rounder, firm, and/or distended looking? Or is it squishy? The reason I ask is if it's rounder, firm, and/or distended looking you may want to have your doctor make sure you don't have a hernia. Abdominal hernias don't always hurt so it's possible to have one and not even realize it. (I'm speaking from a lot of experience on this one)

Otherwise, if it's not a hernia, it's very possible that's just how you lose. I wish we lost evenly but we don't. As women, we tend to lose from the top down and tummies tend to be one of the last to go. Plus, if you have lost on your tummy but have excess skin, that will (unfortunately) mask the weight loss too.

If you are an apple shape you will remain an apple shape albeit a smaller one. When we lose weight our basic body shape stays the same. I hate the fact that even at goal I have a stomach but I love the fact that I have amazing legs so I suppose we have to take the bad with the good.

When in doubt check with your doctor.

My stomach looks bloated from below my breast all the way down. It is bigger than it was before the surgery. I did not have a lot of weight in the stomach area before. It seems like it is more swelling than anything. I am just wondering if this is still some swelling from the surgery. I will ask my doctor when I go back next week but, since I am not in any pain, I am not going to call him just to ask something like that. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing. I was just curious!

Being as you're more than 2 months past surgery it's highly unlikely to be surgery related. My stomach is the same way but I have very large hernias that have to be fixed very soon, too. In fact I already had one get strangulated this past August.

I would have your doctor check it out, just to be safe.

I am sorry, I meant to reply to your earlier post. I don't have a hernia. Thankfully, I have a very good doctor and he checks everything out post and pre op. This is more of a bloated soft swelling. It is not painful at all. I have an appointment next week and will ask about it then. I don't feel that it is serious enough to warrant a phone call. I mainly posted the question because I was curious about whether anyone else had a lot of bloating after lapband. Thank you for your thoughts!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
