By now, most of your meals should be solid food, not shakes. If you eat the solid food meals and add shakes that can add up to too many calories. Measure you portions. or weigh. You may actually be eating too much, or in that so called Bander's Hell where you do not have sufficient retriction. Chat with your nutritionist after logging all foods for a couple of days. You can do it. Keep the faith!

You were banded on Jan 3rd? Was your Jan 7th appointment supposed to be a post op follow up visit? Probably not a wise idea to skip if that was the case. That is an important appointment so your Surgeon can check on you as well as see how your incisions are healing. You are not even a month post op and this is the healing stage and the not the time to be to concerned with weight loss. Regardless of how rocky the road has been putting off appointments to save face with your doctor is a recipe for failure. Your Doctor is there for you through the good times and bad. Be honest with him or her....it will only help in the long run.

As for Protein shakes I still drink one daily even at 9 months out. I have that as one of my meals. It is an excellent source of Protein and my Nutritionist is happy that I have found one that I like and is good for me. as for your "plateau" and lack of weight loss I can tell you that I understand where you are coming from. I got very frustrated because I hardly lost any weight the first month and half but really this time is for healing not losing weight. As for a plateau...that is down the road.

Give yourself some time and do not put so much pressure on yourself. Weight loss will come in time but until you get some restriction it is all on you. How long did your Doc want you on liquids post op? Sounds like you transitioned to solids pretty quick. I know all Surgeons have their way of doing things.

Good luck and get in and see your Doc and let them help you.

Your profile says Jan 3rd 2012? Is that right or is it 2013?

Plateaus are common and 2-3 weeks isn't really a plateau unless it's 1 year and 3 weeks? Your band won't work for you till you get a few fills and find some restriction.

Read some of your past posts. I see you are over one year out? Yes, you may have hit that plateau.

What else are you eating other than 1 or 2 shakes? How many calories are you consuming a day? Are you hungry still?

To break up a plateau, I always recommend that it's a good idea to shake things up and change up your calorie consumption. If you're only taking in 800, boost it to 1200-1400 for a few days to fool your body out of a starvation mode. Likewise, if you're already at 1200 a day, drop it to 800 for 2-3 days. Change up your cardio and try something different. Maybe even take 2-3 days off to let your muscles recover and heal? Just don't do the same thing every day and expect different results.

Try counting calories (myfitnesspal is great) to see what you are doing in a day. Muscle does weight more so if you are doing strength training that can knock things off a little. Make sure you are getting enough Water it is key!

If possible try and see your nutritionist they can help a lot on getting you on track.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
