Frustrated with my recent fill!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, Thank you for taking the time to read this. I was banded in Dec 2011. I have lost 105 pounds so far. Which I am very happy about. I had a fill last Monday. Doc told me to go back to regular eating. Didnt work. I had my last fill in March of 2012 and had no problem with it. Now here we are today. I am able to keep liquids down with no problem. I am tring to eat regular foods and I'm throwing up everything except Soup. Its crazy. I dont know what to do. Do I go back and get a little unfilled? She said she filled me 1.4 CC's,, and whats with the Hic-ups after I eat? Please reply if you can help!

Thanks! :)

Sounds like a tad bit too much. Hiccups is a sign things are not going down well. I would go back for a slight unfill. It often takes very little out to make a huge difference.

Also I usually go back to a day if liquids after throwing up, you can get very swollen and not even know it.

Yes, sounds like you are a little too tight. Call your surgeon, ask for a slight unfill. If you can't do anything but liquids, that is not good! Best wishes.Karen

My 2 bits? Seems like there are many posts similar to yours. I can't help but wonder if you never learned to eat like a bandster? Going 10 months without a fill is a long time. If you went back in for a fill, was it because you could eat anything you wanted?

Not trying to be judgmental here. But if you can drink fluids, eat Soup, but you're having difficulty with solids, are you not taking small bites and maybe not chewing enough? If you take small bites and chew properly, the bolus of food is pretty much soup when it hits your stoma. If you don't chew enough, the chunks won't pass through and you could be bringing up food too large to pass through the stoma? Are you getting stuck, sliming?

Do you throw up from your stomach or from your pouch? And, are you throwing up or PBing the food?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I had this epiphany(or so it seemed) this morning about why so many people post they get a fill, can drink fluids but can't keep food down? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I'm a simple man ya know?

I know for me, back in April and May, I thought I knew how to eat right. But I didn't. I think I know now but I don't always follow the rules and still get into trouble. Some bandsters could think they are eating the right way but in reality, they aren't. And that could be why so many go back and forth for fills and unfills?

Hi 2mf,

I did so well with the one fill that I had I didnt need another one. I have not been able to eat what I wanted. She filled me tight to jump start my weight loss again, which is what I wanted. Today i seem to be so much better. I am able to keep mushy foods down, no throwing up,, but one thing i have done is really take my time inbetween bites. this has helped .. thanks for your advice!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
