Breast reduction?

Recommended Posts

I was banded nearly 3 months ago. I don't feel the need after losing all the weight for a Tummy Tuck or skin removal, but I would like a breast reduction. However, I would like it soon. I've always struggled with large breasts, no matter what my weight was or is. Even with 50lbs gone, they are still the same size, just droopier and heavier on my body. I considered this even before being banded. I just feel like at some point it could be a total burden on my back. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a reduction before getting to their goal? I don't want to be hunchback, not to sound silly, but it does run in my family.

Well I personally would wait until you get closer to goal because if you get a reduction and a good lift they could possibly sag again after more weight loss.

i agree with cheryl and also pm'd you

i would wait til you are closer to or at goal

i had a reduction done (at a larger weight than i am now)

i am super duper happy dont get me wrong but i just think if you do its best to wait.

(when i had mine, they took off 9 pounds) so i understand the heavy/hunchback part).

My reputable surgeons would want you to wait... it would be a shame to have to have 2 surgeries.

I would wait too..I have always been top heavy too, I lost 150 lbs a few years back and I was in dire need of a lift after I lost the weight. I think if you have yours reduced and lifted you may have more sagging to deal with once you reach your goal, breasts contain a lot of fat! I'm going to have mine lifted when I reach my goal. Just my opinion..I wish you well in whatever you decide! :)

I would personally wait. Two surgeries is too much, and you need to learn to live with your band right now, not add the stress of another surgery to the body.

Thank you everyone. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. They were so much perkier when I was fatter lol But I agree, one surgery rather than being disappointed if they sag more later on. I think I'll give myself one year, since I have to do it in the winter for recovery purposes with my business/job. I'm being optimistic that I will lose all of my weight in one year! :) Thanks for the advice!

Yes, my doctor also says she doesn't recommend additional surgeries until 1-2 years post band. Often your body shape will change after that first year, or "bounce back" a bit. That's what I'm hoping anyway. lol

And trust me your boobs will continue to drastically change. Mine are pretty saggy but I went from a 44F to a 36/34DD in last 8 months. It is worthwhile to wait.

Im getting a reduction when i lose weight too so i talked to my dr & He said a good rule of thumb is at least 6-1yr after u reach your goal & have maintained it for a while bc your body will be doing too much reshaping

I had my breast reduction just shy of my one year bandiversary and 20 lbs from my goal weight. Everything went great and I couldn't be happier. by the way.... the 20 lbs was gone shortly after the surgery. he took 7 lbs and the rest literally fell off! Good luck to you!

I am 38 days postop breast reduction & lift...I had the surgery 13 months after being banded & after 80-pound weight loss, 20 pounds to goal. Although I would go back & do it again, I don't want to do it again in the future!!! It is a LONG recovery and I read a lot about many complications on another site that other people have had. I am thrilled with my results, excited to go buy regular sized pretty bras & excited I will no longer have neck/shoulder/back pain from my boobs...I went from a F to a D-DD (not completely sure yet, bcuz I'm still healing & still have some swelling). If you still have a considerable amount of weight to lose, WAIT! You DO NOT want to have to have this surgery twice!!! I did have a TT at the same time, but my boobs have been more sore than my tummy. I am STILL so tired and sore! Wait & it will be worth it!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
