What did your lap band cost out of pocket?

Recommended Posts

The stay at the hospital was a few hours. Overnight at the hotel, xray in the morning, then back to the airport. I arrived in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, got to Tijuana by noon Thursday, had the surgery that afternoon, returned to the airport by Friday at noon. Home in Texas by nine.

I'm from Illinois. Just got my bill the other day... 30,000... However I had reached my Deductible for the year... So mine was free! First 3 months of visits and fills are included!

Had mine done in Mexico by Dr Alberto Aceives. Total cost was 6500.00 which incl 2 night stay in a hospital, not a clinic. Highly recommend him. Him and his assist and the staff were very caring. I was banded on the 7th of Jan.

I am curious how you made out? You said in another post that you could get on your own insurance? Is that through your job? If weight loss surgery is a contract exclusion then your chances of getting an appeal approved are very slim. In addition, you would need to go off hubby's insurance and on your own during open enrollment. It would not be considered fraudulent to be on your own plan for a year or two. Definitely talk to someone at the insurance company you would be going to to see if WLS is covered. Good luck.

I went to my first seminar on the 6th. And my personal dr told me to go and ask the dr before anything to see if I should appeal my hubbies insurance company. They said I should appeal and I go Thursday to my reg dr to try to appeal. With the other insurance I will b paying out of pocket premiums. I am a stay at home mom and we live off of one income. I was looking at different prices and through the same insurance company and if I would do my own plan I could have it paid for that way as long as its medically nessecary which is.

And with me going on my own policy it will cost the same as me being on my husbands policy. I hope this isn't clear as mud lol but it's really complicated to explain :-(

And also our insurance company in other policies cover the band Some up to 100%. My hubby said I can have it done no matter what but I'm trying to use my resources before having to pay out of pocket

In Saint Petersburg Florida it was $9,900 and covered every single thing. This is the low BMI rate (BMI under 35). The other rate I believe is right at $15,000.

My surgeon was Dr Ernest Rehnke. My understanding is that he has done well over a thousand bands over several years.

Everything was great and doing well.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
