Congrats and welcome! I feel your pain we all go through the gas hell. Make sure to walk and move as much as possible. Some people say it helps if you raise your move your arms. Take some gas x. This will pass hang in there. The more you can move the better.

What really helped me was GasX strips. It worked miracles for me during that time. Congrats on your band!

I'm about to send my hubby on a gas-x run because the gas pains are so bad. It's also still sore when even a little sip goes past the band. How long before a little sip can pass without discomfort? Thanks!

My surgeons assistant told me to take GAsX and it helped. When I had a previous lapro surgery that gas pain hurt for over two weeks, with the GASX this time 2-3days!!

Good Luck

Oh and I actually used the ones from the Dollar Tree!!!

Oh the gas pains......they were killers!!!! My saving grace was the heating pad on full tilt. It will of course pass but it took about 8 or 9 days post op to fully subside............You will make it!!!!

Okay this is a dumb question. Everyone is mentioning using the heating pad. I bought one for the surgery. Now, where do I put it? LOL

I used it around my neck and shoulders because the gas pain was the worst in this part.

I'm 5 days post op and let me tell you.... Yesterday I thought I was going to die lol. Today thank god is a new day and I feel 100% better than yesterday thanks to finally getting some of that gas out of my chest cavity. I just used a lot of soluble pain killers yesterday and that got me through almond with 2 good 20 min walks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
