Cigna and the waiting game...

Recommended Posts

So I have Cigna insurance and the clinic faxed all the completed paperwork last Wednesday (01/09). Now I get to anxiously wait by the phone. I was wondering, those who have Cigna, how long did it take from fax to phone call?? I might start bugging them towards end of next week (give them a full week).

I hope you hear back soon. I was total that they are the hardest to get approval from and not to expect anything less then 14 business days. I was elated when my surgeons office called me 4 days later with the approval. The office and I made sure that Cigna had EVERYTHING they would need to base their decision upon. Keep me posted!

It took me a total of 3 days. They denied me on day 1 because they had my birthdate wrong. Said I was 17!! I haven't been a teenager in decades. I got approved 2 days later.

I have Cigna. I cannot for the life of me, remember how long it took but I know it was more than a few days. I even called them after not hearing anything from the surgical coordinator. It was a great phone call because the automated response told me that I had been approved. Then....after everything was set, I had to wait three more months because the hospital was damaged by Sandy and I didn't want to have the surgery at another hospital..

I never rely on someone else to get things done. I called my pcp 4 times to make sure her letter was faxed to the clinic. I then called the clinic to make sure they received it. Then I made sure it was all faxed to Cigna from the clinic. Luckily, the coordinator for my surgeon was just as anal as I am so she made sure she had all the paperwork needed for Cigna. It was a stressful day, but worth it.

Yeah its hard waiting to hear but before you know it, you'll be scheduling your op appointment! Things have been wonderful! First couple days after post op can be hard, make sure to follow your doctor's instructions to the T. Finding the green zone can take time and everyone is different. I'm hear if you have anymore questions or want more details, you can message me anytime.

I'm down 52 pounds since surgery on 1/30/13. I'd be down more but I don't work out lol. Though I'm gonna start. I need to buy new work out clothes which I ordered today cuz all my other ones are too big for once!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
